Re: make play option disappear on display

Have you tried the display button? It usually cycles through what is displayed on the screen in most modes.

The DCIM folder should not be hidden, but if it is, you can show hidden and system files if you go into the control panel and select folder options. Click on "Show hidden and system files.

Welcome to Fixya

Sounds like the pictures are hidden. Take out the memory card of the acmera and plug it in to a computer that has a card reader. Click the file and folder options of your computer then click the box that says SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. You should be able to view your pictures now using the computer.

Thank you for using Fixya!

the files are hidden on your computer, i will show you steps on how to show them, the drive might be virus infected. when you see the file make show you create a backup for it and then format the drive before using it in the camera again.

How do I view video

First set the camera to Playback mode. On the back of the camera there are two circular buttons. Looking at the top circular button, the bottom option is a right-pointing arrow. Press that arrow.

The last thing you photographed or recorded will display on the screen. If this is not what you are looking for, you will need to navigate to the correct item. To do this, use the bottom circular button that has both a left-pointing arrow and a right-pointing arrow. Use the left-pointing arrow to go back through your images/recordings.

The video recording should play automatically and repeat when completed.

I cannot see the picture i am tryin to take on the main screen. When i click display to make the text disappear on the main screen all i see is black.

It sounds like you're trying to use Live View.

Possibility 1: Do you mean that you want to use the screen to see a "video" of what you're looking at so you can compose your shot and then click the shutter? If so you want to use Live View. Go into your menu and you'll see one topic called "Live View function settings" in the 5th section (2nd wrench icon). Make sure it says "enable". After that, press menu again to exit and then when you press the Set button you'll see the screen come to life.

Possibility 2: If you mean that you can't see the photo you've ALREADY taken, then you have to press the play button beside the screen (near the bottom). It could be that you've set the camera NOT show the image after it's shot. You can change this in the menu by setting the image display time to a higher number of seconds.

Doesn't show the 10Mp option only up to 8Mp!

hi again

slide the switch on the side of the camera to camera mode
press the on screen display button (second up from the bottom right of the camera body
there should be an icon in the bottom right of the display which says 10.1
select this option and press the return key
if you still only have a 8 mega option, then according to sony's tecko's you don't have an N2 you have its predesessor which was 8 mega pix max.
p.s. why would you need 10 meg pikkys unless you were printing up A2 posters or bigger ?

hope this is of some help

Make sure you have set the camera to the appropriate mode under the Set Up Menu -- choose NTSC or PAL (for USA it should be NTSC.)  Ensure the proper connections are made to the TV -- Yellow to Video and White to Audio (the camera plays music to accompany your photos).   Make sure your TV is tuned to the proper video channel, which is usually 3.   Now you can turn the camera on.  Now go under the Playback Menu and choose the folder your photos are located in, usually "Current" Now, since there are quite a few options from here, check on page 75 of your manual under Slide Show, and you will see the various options available, such as choosing the music to play.
