Hi, I had a U052 print head error (which a lot of people appear to have). After cleaning the contacts, the error was not cleared and so I hoped it was firmware related and tried some button sequences in an attempt to reset the printer. I held down the OK button while switching on, but now I constantly get error 5200. As this apepars to be related to my attempts to reset, can you tell me the correct method to reset? (I have tried to find instruction on the internet but have found them to be unclear or perhaps related to other models). Many thanks
1- Unplug it
2- Open the top and bring the ink cartridge holder to the middle
3- Raise the gray bar and remove the print head assembly with the cartridges in it
4- Lower the gray bar with the head missing and close the top with the head out
5- Restore the power, wait til the printer wakes up
6- It will tell you to put in the cartridges
7- Restore the print head, close the top and the printer should resume working.....
Testimonial: "Hi, thank you for the suggestion but I found this some time ago and tried it and it didn't resolve the problem. I found it impossible to remove the print head with the cartridges in, so I removed them and then removed the head. When I switched on, I was informed that the head was missing (great, no 5200 error at this point). When I put the head/cartridges in place, I got the U052 error. When I turned the printer off then on, I was back to the 5200 error which has shown ever since. I would really appreciate the reset sequence. I understand it starts with Maintenance/Service Mode (Power Button+Resume Button, release Resume, then double tap Resume, release Power). I can get into Maintenance mode, but after this I have seen different instructions which make little sense - perhaps for different models, or the instructions are unclear. Could you give me the reset sequence specifically for the MP970?"
So I guess you have found this one too ?
1. Turn off the printer . 2. Press the Stop button for 2 second and hold it. 3. Press the On button, hold it and release the Stop button. 4. Press Stop button 5 times then release together, with the On button. 5. LCD display will blank and now reseting. 6. Computer will detect new hardware just ignore it. 7. Turn off the printer then turn it On
