Question about Garmin nuvi 250 GPS Receiver
There is a quick, easy way to reset your Nuvi, but it will result in loss of all saved points. If at all possible, back up your data files first! To reset, do the following:

Only one and you wont like it....
The chip is possibly damaged and is expensive to repair. Not generally considered a warranty job so thye bin is your cheapest way to avoid costs.
Always avoid plugging in GPS and starting engine. plu in after engine started, helps preserve the chip and the other sensitive components
