Why does it keep turning off after a few secs.

Sounds like its a fueling issue, or there lack of.. When your hand is over it you're restricting the air flow and the engine is receiving the right amount of air to fuel.. But with the filter on, its drawing too much air for the amount of fuel its getting.. Check the fuel lines, fuel filter, and carb settings if it has any tuning screws. If its a float type, make sure the needle valve isn't sticking.

Hi , need help my mtd ride on mower was leaking fuel so I changed the fuel pipes it is now misfiring

if the fuel is leaking from the carb and its also misfiring then it could be that the carb is flooding. to cure this you will need to remove the carb, remove the fuel bowl off the carb,remove the float and needle valve and either blow out all the jets and air wys with compressed air or if you dont have compressed air try using carb or brake cleaner with a straw pipe in the nozzle to blow through the jets etc. check that the float and tip of the needle valve are in good condition before refitting them

I have a TB70SS trimmer. I used my trimmer on half my yard with no problem, turned it off to cut the grass with the lawnmower, then tried to turn on my weedeater again, and noticed the primer bulb would...

First, the primer/purge bulb does NOT have to fill completely to function. It's purpose is to remove old fue and AIR from the fuel system (carb) and move it back into the fuel tank. You normally will have an air pocket in the bulb. An air leak in the fuel system or loose carburetor screws or fuel lines in the wrong location can cause your problem. Check the fuel line and fuel filter for a good connection in the fuel tank. Remove the fuel pump cover on the carb and make sure the very small, round, wire mesh filter is not clogged with debris. When old fuel lines deteriorate, they crumble and if the filter is broken off, the fuel line to the carb will ingest bits and pieces of old fuel line. Check all these things and post back.Sometimes, if the bulb is on the carb, a check valve in the carb can stick. When you check the condition of the mesh filter inside the carb (opposite the side with the vent hole), then liberally spray with WD 40. Strong solvents and cleaners can SWELL up the tiny check valves in the carb, causing problems. So you see, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what happened without some removal of parts and diagnosis.

Have a poulan pro ppb150 thegas lines rotted in tank there are two line in tank a fuel line and apurge line cannot find a schematic showing wich line goes to filter and which line goes to purge and...

The fuel line from the fuel tank, with the filter on the end goes to the fuel inlet connection on the carb, this is the connection nearest to the alloy pump cover on the carb, the other connection on the carb has a pipe to the shortey connection on the back of the primer ( the suction side ) the longer connection on the primer ( pressure side ) has a pipe that goes back to the tank, it just pushes into the top of the tank, to re cap the primer pulls fuel from the carb, and dumps it back to the tank.

I need a fuel line schematic for a WeedEater brand Featherlite Plus weedeater

Presuming the primer bulb is on top of the carb....Fuel filter line out of gas tank goes to the lower part if carburetor body. The other line (normally larger in size) coming out of the fuel tank goes to the primer bulb outlet on the top of carb.
If the primer/purge bulb is not on the carb, things are a little different. The fuel filter line out of the tank still goes directly to the carb, as the bulb will pull old fuel/air out of the carb allowing fresh fuel to flow in and pushes old fuel/air back to the fuel tank.
Fresh fuel in, old fuel out of the can hook up a piece of fuel line to the bulb and tell which one is pulling and which one is pushing..or depress it with your fingers on it...either way you can tell.

1983 fleetwood southwing fuel system schematic for diagnosing / repairing no fuel getting from tank to engine intremittently - plenty of fuel in the tank itself...

Lots of possibilities.

Could have corrosion build up and rust clogging fuel tank pick up. Usually reverse air pressure helps, but would help to remove tank sending unit to see if you can **** out any water or gunk.

Could have vacuum building up in tank. Make sure charcoal canister purge valve is working right, and no hiss when taking off gas cap.

Could be fuel pump. Check pressure and volume, leakage, etc.

Could be filter. If carb, remember there is a small filter in the carb as well.

If fuel injected, may have bad pressure regulator or safety valve in line.
The pressure test results will help.

Where does the duck valve go in a Poulan 2150 chainsaw? Iam trying to replace the fuel lines . Does it go in the fuel tank? I need a diagram of the fuel lines.

is your fuel cap missing the hold down that keeps it from falling out of the tank.if the keeper is missing from fuel cap, the valve goes in the cap.if the cap is together then it just sticks in the fuel tank hole in the top...... hope this helps,let me know.................

Fuel filter is located near the fuel shutoff valve within three inches. It is inline between the shutoff valve and the fuel pump (towards tank).

The fuel circuit is: Tank/Fuel Pump/Fuel Filter/Fuel Shut-off Valve/Carbs.

You first step is to check for fuel delivery to the filter. Make sure the bike is cool and no iginition sources are nearby. Disconnect the inlet line at the filter and turn key on and crank engine (to trigger fuel pump.) Do not try and start at this time (choke off).

If fuel is adequate to the filter, check the filter by blowing through it, it should easily pass air. Replace filter if questionable.

Next reconnect the fuel lines and remove float bowl drain plugs in the back of the carbs (2 per carb). If with key on and cranking fuel pours out of these ports then you probably have clogged fuel jets. If not then the float bowl needles / pipes could be plugged with varnish from dried fuel. You can try spraying carb cleaner into the fuel inlet to clear the varnish and then retest. Careful not to spray carb cleaner on yourself (wrap straw with a rag).

If you have good fuel flow to the carbs and bowls you probably have varnish plugging the jets. You should remove the carbs and clean them thoroughly.

Fuel filter

"Under the vehicle drivers side on the frame rail under the driver side door. There is frame right underneath it but you can access it easily. Be sure to release the fuel pressure before changing the filter. The fuel pressure release valve is located in the engine compartment on top of the engine. It is on the left side of the air intake manifold. It is just a small cap over the valve. Be sure not to lose that cap!! When you change the filter, the filter line on each side of the fuel filter has a quick disconnect type fitting inside the line (similar in principle to a quick disconnect on a gas line or air compressor line). To free the filter from the line you must push in (toward the filter) with a simple tool you can purchase at most auto parts stores for just a few dollars.

Additional Information The tool I was able to rent from NAPA. The guys there were very good to me. Look for about 45 min. of time to complete replacement.

While first off your going to need to relieve the pressure in the system, and if you think your going to just pull the fuel pump relay and then run the engine until it stops to relieve pressure it aint gonna work. Get a bleeder gauge. Your also gonna need a quick disconnect tool. Ford models are usually 1/4" 3/8" or 15/16". Put it on the fuel pump right before the "duck bill" then try to push the line foward. If that doesn't work just try to push the tool into the duck bill then try to push the line foward."
