Only try this if your camera is out of warranty. Turn camera on, and extend lens fully, now grab outer most element and pull out. Sometimes you can reseat the lens in the track at the correct point. I used to do this all the time to my older digital cameras.
According to Sony, storing the camera lens-down in a warm area for an
extended period (a week) can help re-lubricate the retractor drive in
cases like this.
This camera seems to have a predisposition to
lens retraction problems. Try some gentle nudging, Even a small piece
of debris can jam the mechanism, so it might just need a little push or
pull.
my cam z sony DSC HX1..the problem z when i zoom in(max) the objct i m zoomin doesnt get focusd....when i shoot it the pic z totally blurrd....no matter how mch i try 2 focus with the manual focus option the outcum z da same....
manualy try to force it down. if you hear a cruch or grinding noise that means the gears are stripped and needs to be sent in flat rate usually half what you paid originally.
