I've been told that I have a stuck unloader valve

Karcher HD3500 pressure washer. Where is this valve located and simply how to get to it to clean or replace

    Hi

On my HD3500. The unloader valve is behind the pressure control knob. I have removed and cleaned and greased and re-installed. My problem is that when I put garden hose to inlet (good water pressure&filter is not dirty) I get no pressure out of the high pressure side. If I remove the unloader valve I then get pressure out of high side. I was told that I had a stuck unloader valve, that is when I first asked the question about where it was, since then I have done everything I can think of. It all boils down to if the unloader valve is in I get no water thru the head. The valve itself looks ok ( spring not broke and o-rings look fine) What is it that I'm missing.

  1. Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry off the top silver cap from the top of the pump.
  2. Remove the black cap from the top of the pump.
  3. Using a T30 torx bit (sometimes referred to as a star bit) remove the two screws from the plastic unloader cover.
  4. Next, remove the thermo coupler and spring that sit in the pump housing. You won't have to remove the o-ring that sits on top of this coupler because it is integrated into the housing.
  5. Remove the spring from the cylinder.
  6. Remove the unloader valve from the pump. The easiest way to do this is to attach a garden hose to the pump and turn it on. The force of the water will push out the valve. If this alone does not remove it, you may have to start the machine to get enough pressure under the valve.
  7. Lubricate the unloader valve o-rings with white lithium grease. This will reduce the friction on the valve and allow it to move more freely. (as shown below)
  8. Re-assemble by reversing steps 1 through 6.
Valve looks something like this when you have removed it.

SOURCE: clean and unloader valve on Karcher hd3500

Hi:
Cleaning it is not enough. You need to make sure the o-rings are in good shape and grease it with a very very good waterproof grease. Here is a schematic of the pump. The unloader is parts 7 to 13 on D-2

I have a Karcher G2500HT. When I pull the trigger the pump will not engage. I pulled the pump off, checked the seals, and cleaned the screen. When I put it back on there was no leakage but the pump...

I would have to agree with your service department. The unloader valve works like this, When you press the trigger it closes and allows the water to build pressure through the pump. When you let off the trigger the valve opens and by-passes the water through the pump so you don't damge the pump. If this valve is sticking and remaining open the pressure will not build. You can remove this valve and clean relubricate with white lithium grease just a coating and this should clear up your problem. Check the port that the valve sits in and if you see gunk just clean with carburetor cleaner and blow it out with air compressor. A new unloader valve can cost between $40.00 - $60.00. Try to clean first before you buy a new one. The valve is usually located near the outlet that you connect your pressure hose to. If you can't find it go to jackssmallenginerepair.com and do a parts look up for your machine and you will see where this valve is located. Hope this helps.

sounds like you have a unloader valve problem or a crack in the pressure manifold housing between pressure outlet and unloader valve assy allowing unloader to cycle on/ off

or some dirt trapped in the unloader valve seat , make sure you have good supply of water - ie good flow from tap to pump

try cleaning unloader 1st and fitting in line tap filter

hope it helps

No pressure / Karcher G 2400 HH

Hi ruthkapres:
Here is a diagram. The unloader/spill valve is #12 on page D2 or F2 depending on your model. You must pull it out, inspect the o-rings for dents or tears and make sure the valve is lubricated with a good water proof lubricant.

How to clean unloader valve..

The Karcher K2400HH and G2400HH do not have an unloader valve, they have a spill valve which is located under the black cap on top of the pump.

The spill valve needs to be removed and the side walls of the hole it sits in need to be wire brushed to remove deposits. then you can put it back in and put the pump back together.

I have a Karcher HD3500 and was told Imay have a stuck unloader valve. Where is it and is there a diagram showing how to get to and clean?

Hi
The unloader valveis HERE
If you go to D-2 it is part numbers 8 to 13. If it is stuck it is not only important to free it up but also make sure no o-rings are damaged and lube it with a very good waterproof grease. Good luck.

How do you clean the unloader valve on a power washer pump?

The unloader valve usually is replaced. I dont know if you can get o-rings for it. But if you want to take it apart, there will be a crown or cap style nut just below the spring. Unscrew it completely and you will be able to remove the spool. There is just a series of o-rings on it.
