Re: Clicking sound wile drive running, sys wont complete...

Clicking sounds coming from a computer tend to be indicate a hardware problem with your hard drive. That sound is commonly referred to as the "click of death" and indicates that your hard drive may be failing. Contact your computer manufacturer to send your laptop in for repair.

Volume is up but not getting any sound

if uve not got a sound button on front or side of laptop. or uve turned it up, ur sound code drive needs re-installing.

go to start > control panel .> device manager > click on plus signs so they expand and keep going down till u reach sound card. right click on it and go to uninstall. once u switch your laptop off (hard reboot) and back on again your op sys should find it and re-install driver with a usable irq..

Operating system working slow, some components have been corrupted e.g dac2w2k.sys

ok, click run and type cmd (winxp and win 7) then in command type CHKDSK c: /f , it should then say cannot run because the volume is use. so press 'y' for the check to be when the computer starts, so restart the computer and let it scan your hd, if it finds some bad sectors it will attempt to fix them, if it cannot fix them then your Hard drive is defective, also to help download CCleaner (it's free) and run analyse to clear your temp files ect.. also click on registry and select scan for issues, both of these steps should help your computer run faster. also try looking for viruses ect... best regards

Hello to everyone, I have been reading forums for

This is a typical sign of a defective hard drive.Your hard drive might or might not be repairable, depending on the degree of damage.
I would recommend that you use a live CD (such as this one: to boot up your computer & run a hard disk diagnostic tool like HDD Regenerator. It might take several hours (sometimes days) to fix the damage. If this did not help, then you will have to replace the hard drive.

Blue screen on start up tech information stop:0x000000024

try safe mode, if you can get into safe mode try sys restore if still same hold the Fn key down while sys is off and then press the power button like turning the computer on to run diagnostics - if sys fails with an error code like 0142, 0143 or 0146 its hard drive failure. you have to replace the drive but if it passes the test you have to reinstall windows.

My laptop went off, turned it back on and it loads the advent screen, then it goes to the screen that says-''run in safe mode,,start windows normally etc. Tried all the options,,none of them work,,it wont go...

Your best bet is to replace the keyboard. They are cheap (under $20.00) and easy to replace. All other options involve making a bootable flash drive (more complicated and you still have a broken keyboard)

I have a acer 5610 i dont have the start-up disk, id like it to be like new, can you help me.

go buy a new op sys cd or order the restore cd online. you can setup fresh with any windows cd and go online and get the rest of the drivers but you may lose everything on it unless you are experienced in setting up a new op sys. if you opt to do it that way just dont delete the partition or format anything and you will have a new op sys with all your stuff right where it was.

My laptop is slow and wont reboot

Put the Windows Op Sys CD in the drive and boot the system, Interrupt the boot process and go to the BIOS. Select the first boot up device to be the CD/DVD drive and then save the settings. Exit from BIOS and reboot the laptop. Windows should start from the CD. You will see an option to repair etc. Select the R Repair option and follow instructions. Once this has completed, and it may take some time depending on how full the HD is go to and download the 30 day free trial application of Ashampoo and run this over your system to clean it up. Then run the defrag option in the MODULES tab - Optimise Performance Option- Defrag 3. Once completed your system will be cleaned and optimised. In order to make the performance even better - add additional RAM to the unit - you can never have too much and make sure that the HD has a minimum of 10% space remaining otherwise the laptop will slow down in operation.

Missing or corrupted file C:\windows\himem.sys

If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, type:
copy himem.sys c:\windows <press enter>
If when typing any of the above commands you receive a prompt that the file already exists, ensure to overwrite it.
Reboot the computer; if the issue continues to occur, verify that the config.sys is properly setup. The line himem.sys should read:
Additional information and examples of the config.sys can be found on our autoexec.bat / config.sys page.
