Why wont my acer aspire 5332 connect to or show internet connections
Do you have a wired or wireless router? Is wireless enabled? See the guide here... http://www.manualslib.com/manual/1183/Acer-Aspire-5332-Series.html

Atheros AR5007EG adapter only WEP compatible. Wireless networks using WPA(2), or anything else won't work. If network is unsecured, it should connect.

This will happen if you let the battery go completely dead. Some files become corrupted.
Solution:- Right click on Settings (preferences some models). Select 'Network' then double click on 'gFTP'. Scroll down to '.gconf' and double click. select and double click on 'system'. Right click on 'Networking'. Scroll down to 'Delete'. Left click on 'Delete'. Confirm 'YES'. Turn off the computer, then restart. What you have done now forces the computer to re-create the networking file. Your networking icon should re-appear on the taskbar. Note this is only for LINUX systems. - Good Luck!

If your other laptop is working fine, then have a look at the configuration of the wireless card and use the same configuration on the one that is not working.
Depending upon your wireless card make there is a program that enable you to setup the wireless card. Go to Start - Programs to locate this program. If your wireless card is built-in refer to your Acer manual.
Encryption is setup on the wireless router and these settings are also used to configure the wireless card. If the encryption is already setup, changing the encryption will affect your other wireless card, therefore all the wireless cards will need to be reconfigured with the new encryption to work with the wireless router.

I know nothing about Linux and had the same problem. I found this on another site as I have been searching for an answer. Just finished as instructed and it has worked. Just in case I renamed the folder rather than deleting it!
"Follow this then restart and everything should come back to normal. It took me 3 minutes and worked fine.
This is to find and delete the networking folder (which is causing the problem):
1. From the regular Aspire One options page, go to the Files panel
2. Click on the triangle to see more icons
3. Click on MyFiles, which opens a file manager window.
4. In the menu bar, select View->Hidden files, to show a tick in the box. You should be in the "My Disk:///" directory.
5. Scroll down until you find folder "gconf" and then click on that
6. Find folder "system" and click on that
7. You should now see folder "networking" listed as one of the folders.
8. DELETE IT! (Right click on the networking folder, and select option delete.)
I just restarted from here and the icon re appeared in bottom right the menu bar, I just clicked on it to set it up with my wifi signal and it did the rest itself. "
Have fun and dont panic!

Check the power settings. It may be turning off the NIC/Wireless Card when you are running on battery to preserve battery life. Turn it on.
