Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-46SL14098 LCD TV

1 Answer

Intermittent problem with sound distorting, cutting out and then dying completely. Changing channel, or simply pausing a dvd that is playing will bring sound right back. All inputs into HDMI ports. Changing ports and cables does not help. Occurs with both satellite receiver and dvd recorder.

I am fairly sure the solution may be correct. I had the pioneer connected with a DVI cable and separate audio to a different set in the past. When I switched over I still had the audio cables connected. I have removed them based on this advice and will see if I have any further problems. Anyway this service was very efficient and well worth the nominal fee. Thank you. You certainly do have some talented experts!!

Hi,

Check your pioneer unit settings, the ps3 settings are correct, and make sure you unplugged the audio cables. It sounds like a bad signal somewhere, which would cause the speakers to clip and distort. Make sure all of your surround sound speakers have a good connection if they have single wire runs to them and not a audio plug in them and there are not broken wires, or wires touching.

Thanks

You are probably clipping in that midrange. Since the DVD player is fine and CD player is distorting: they are line level outputs, If you are running those through an equalizer- the equalizer should allow you add in a 10db attenuation.

If you are running them straight to the amp, The CD line level output should be about 1.5 volt peak to peak, it may be the line level input of your amp is only 1 volt and the DVD player simply has that level of output so does not clip..

Simply adding into the cable a 0.1 microfarad polyester capacitor for each channel should be enough attenuation to avoid clipping. The midrange is where you hear the most content in large part because that is the range that the human ear is most sensitive to. Which is why that portion clips. The DVD audio is actually recorded to the same specs as CD audio. You can confirm this by playing your CD disk in your DVD player. .

Sometimes when changing channels it indicates "no input". Sometimes you can go to previous and then back and the channel will come up, other times, you need to power off and back on as the TV totally...

This actually sounds more like a signal issue on the cable box. When you go from regular digital chs to HD channels sometimes boxes will distort or pause the picture when changing channels (it's not the cable or satellite, it's your TV trying to read the different format of the chs) this is normal. Also, some TVs may need to have a firmware update and you can normally get it from the Manufacturer's website

I have a rca dvd recorder+vcr combo drc8320n i want to set up watching/changing cabletv channels on the dvd remote. i have tried buying universal remotes cheap& expensive but they no longer work on my

With cable input connected to "RF in"on rear of unit make sure vidoe input is set to "Tuner". This will show up on the TV screen. Change channels numerically or using up/down arrow keys on DVR remote. Note there is a slight pause between changing channels. You probably will have to "autoscan" for channel setup/etc. If you say your TV set is old; it probabaly is equiped with coax
connection only/set TV channel to "3" or "4". when yot opt to play vcr/dvd it will override your
cable channel selected. Hope this helps!

DVR 120 Disc/Screen freezes half way through

CD does not run
Clean lens and adjust the disk level
Not spinning disc
If it spins with a little help from yourself replace the spindle motor with improved motor, part number: RXQ0749A
This fault would only occur on c.d play back. The sound would gradually start to distort, until all that could be heard was complete distortion. This fault was intermittent and would occur whenever it felt like
Believe it or not, this fault was cured by replacing the optical unit
