System Cuts Off

I have two 10" Type R Alpines hooked on a Rockford Fosgate P8002 amp wit a CPC05-03 Rockford capacitor, and the system cuts off wen i put it on high. I bought i new battery and recharged the capacitor thinking this was the problem but it keeps going. Is the amp pushing too much power for the subs or vice versa?... tried changing the settings on the HU and on the amp but it keeps going... I have no idea what it could be...

i have 2 12's at 1200 watts a piece so i run a high current 1000 watt amp which is way more then enough power the gain is set at half
so you can spend bout 500 on a high current or spend half and get a lower quality amp at say 2000 watts would do the job nicely
surf the web check some out and sent me a link or something and let you know what i think of it

Re-configure the speakers for a load inpedance of 4-8 ohms. Or add another P8002 amp and drive the speakers separately.

Ok so when i turn my bass up my kicker cut out from the power. now im pretty sure its because my remote wire-piece is loose someone please help me resolve this problem. i love this amp it goes perfect wit...

when u say the power cuts out.Do U mean the DC + power. Powers down on the amp. or does the amps protection kick on. and if it does. Is thier a flashing maybe orange/yelloowish light. If this is so. You might want to over look your connecting of your speakers. to see how it is wired. It might be crossed. -or-Is your amp mounted on something other than your vehicle. If it is U might want to remove it,and put it on another type of item that is not some kind of metal. I always use wood. Then i mount wood to A vehicle after the amp. U see A amp is not to be mounted directly to A vehicle. It grounds it out. when go to turn up your system it will cut off or sound like a pulse up and down kind of sound

I just needed some help with wiring my p8002 rockford amp to 2 fosgate 10 inch subs i just bought. there 4 ohms a piece and dual voice coil. i dont know much about car stereos but people keep telling me...

Well i tried looking up that amp, but Fosgate sight is down. So assuming that the best power out of your amp is 2ohms off the bridged hookup, and the subs are 4 ohms per coil, the best way is to only use one side of each speaker and hook it straight the the bridge. Only using one hook up wont hurt anything, its just for giving you wiring options. And when adding up ohms of speakers, it goes like this. If you had two 4 ohm subs, that'll give you a 2 ohm load. If you hooked up all your hookups, it would be like having four 4 ohm subs, and would give you a 1 ohm load.

No power after i unhooked the wire from amp, left wire uncovered at ends for couple days tried hooking them back up and no power now. is amp blown

if you unhooked the wire from the amp while the amp was on, you may have possibly blown a fuse, or mayb a transistor or compacitor inside the amp! easy fix, just find new transistors and compacitors and soilder them on after removing old ones!

Rockford p8002 keeps pulseing. (not a ground problem)

for seeing a out of phaze speaker you would have to run like a 10 hz or lower signal to the amp you might be seeing a optical illusion if they were out of phaze or backwards the speaker would have cancled each other out so it would sound like **** as you said.but anyway it sounds like the amps power supply is bad.put it back in you car and see if it still works like it did befor you put it in your friends car.you may have burned it up.find out how much the amp is worth and if can have it fixed for less then 60% of orignal cost then have it fixed

Sub hook ups

There's a lot more factors involved than that.
  • Power capability of the subs
  • Type/size of the sub box
  • Allotted space in the vehicle for the sub box
  • Voice coil impedance of the subs versus the capability of the amp
  • Etc.

Rockford amp cut out

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect the RCAs. Replace the 30 amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse. If you turn it on and it blows the fuse, it's likely that it has shorted output transistors. If that's the case, you need to have the amp repaired.
