passenger side hi side service line going to evaporator. remove line from fire wall to evap it will be in that line.

Not sure specifically on that model but if you follow the line from the compressor to the condensor then out of the condensor to the evaporator it will be between the condensor and evaporator usually the tube is wraped in plastic but it could be in the heater box itself also if you have rear ac the rear unit uses a thermal expansion valve on the rear evaporator not an orifice tube. What is your concern thats leading you to find the orifice tube if your dont mind me asking

Check the pressures to see if there is a blockage in the orifice tube. If freon was only added to an empty system there is most likely air in the system. The blend door may not be changing completely from heat to cool also needs to be checked.

Its inside the connection where the suction hose connects to the evaporator. You must release all the freon out before you open the hose or you'll get a face full of compressor oil.

Your model does not use an expansion valve. It has an orifice tube in one of the metal lines that converts the gas to liquid.
If the orifice tube is blocked it would be at the edge of the frost.
Could also be a restricted air flow thru the radiator or the evap core inside the car.

2005 GMC Xl doesn't appear to have an orifice tube where you'd expect to find it, -in its normal location.

Suggestion: if the fluid looks good inside the receiver/Dryer and the pressure is within range, send it.

Otherwise you're probably looking at a failed compressor and a clogged core or condenser at this age of the vehicle.

The expansion (orifice) tube is located in the evaporator inlet pipe....
