How do I get my GPS to boot up? Power on and it locks on the first screen. Have to remove batteries to turn off. Should I run EU Version 1.78 or NA Version 1.78 updates?
So it turns out that it is some sort of data corruption which prevents the GPS from completing the startup sequence. If your gps is still under warranty then you should be able to get it replaced. If not, I'm not aware of any fix.So it turns out that it is some sort of data corruption which prevents the GPS from completing the startup sequence. If your medion gopal p4425 will not boot up, then there is a problem somewhere. The problem is minor as it is that, a file that supports its booting is missing.
Solution,
Reset your gps receiver by pressing down the reset button for about 5 seconds or holding the power on/off button for about 15 seconds.
The gps receiver will restart and that way boot normally.
If reseting does not solve the problem, then the solution is for you to format the gps and restore the gps software on it. To do that:
Connect your gps receiver to your computer using a USB cable,
Select the computer from your start menu,
Right click on the gps receiver from the computer age,
Select format drive,
Do not quick format, format normally,
Then go to your gps receivers website and download its software,
Then transfer the software onto the gps receiver,
You can download the latest version,
Then copy your maps back on your gps receiver,
Connect the gps receiver back on the car,
Then turn it on,
This time it will get passed the blue screen and boot normally.
like any computer u must remove power from the unit, consult your owners manual and remove the appropiate fuses that supply power to the GPS, note there may be 2 fuses, one is key on power and one for key off keep alive memory power, another way to do this is just disconnect the battery for 5 minutes.
Garmin used to have good products, but seem to be slipping badly lately. I have an 850 and it does the same thing. I have downloaded all new software that is suppose to fix it, but it is still happening. Great they have a removable battery now. Little did we know that it is removable so we can reboot the piece of junk!
Try the latest software and keep youe dingers crossed.
I've had a similar situation with a Magellan, it would power off despite being plugged in.
Its usually a battery issue, perhaps its not getting enough power? You could try to unplug it and do a "hard battery reset" depending on the type of battery. Keep turning it on and let it run out, until it wont even turn on anymore, after that plug it into a charger while off and allow it to charge completely. Turn it on, see if it still shuts off.
