Question about Acer TravelMate 661LCi Notebook

1 Answer

Acer Aspire Computer

My laptop will not connect ot the internet. A message will pop up saying no or limited connectivity. It recognizes the routers but it still wont connect. I have even plugged the computer straight into the cable modem still no internet. Also I ordered and down loaded service pac one and two. According to Microsoft, when Acer bought the rights to down load windows vista, acer some how reconfigured windows vista to fit onto the laptop. Acer will not fix this problem even though they created it. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi there.

This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to default settings, but before you perform this remove power from the modem and router for 2 minutes reconnect power and wait another 2 minutes for them to settle down.

What i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "uninstall" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again.

Good luck

Limited connectivity
If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wireless connection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptop probably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and then click Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless card on the laptop.

No enternet access

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.

If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.

Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.

Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.

Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire.

Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.

Restart the computer.

The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver.

Restarting the computer corrects this issue.

hope this helps

Does it connect to the router or network? what happens when you open Internet Explorer? What kind of messages are you getting? Just saying won't connect to the internet could be a lot or reasons because getting a connection requires a number of things to be working.

Open network connections and see if the internet connection is enabled. If not, right click and choose enable. If this is the first time you've tried connecting to internet with Acer, then you can run through the internet connection wizard to set things up.
