Ps-8 subwoofer quit working. powers on but no sound. checked wires and reciever. all good help

Bad wiring or output on radio?

Normaly C26 has turned bad. It's 22uF/25V and is easy to access when module is disassembled.

i have a similar problem:
my problem is that my sub doesn't power on when i put sound on my amplifier, then i have to power on manually the sub, but how it doesn't detects sound, it comes power off after 15 min.

is it the subwoofer or the amplifier that has quit. check all ur wiring that it is all connected and no shorts. check your voltages with a multimeter. ( available for $10 + from local jaycar etc) connect your sub to a set of wires from one of your car speakers. if there is some sound the sub should still be good.

Check your battery connections and fuses as well, as they can cause issues

I HAVE 4 PS212 AND FROM WHAT YOU ARE DISCRIBING SOUNDS SIMILIAR TO WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. PLAYING THE SUB AT FULL VOLUME AND CLIPPING OCCURED NOT KNOWING THAT THE FAINT SMELL WAS THE VOICE COIL BURNING AND CONTINUING TO PLAY UNTIL KNOW SOUND LESSON LEARNED BUY A BIGGER SUB SYSTEM OR REPLACE YOUR SUB WOOFER.
IN MY OPPINION THIS IS A VERY GOOD PRODUCT WHICH I HAVE BEEN ABUSEING FOR MONTHS . SO QUIT WHINEING AND PAY YOUR DUES.

I have the same setup. Are you going out of the subwoofer output of the reciever? (it's purple.) then into the LFE jack of the subwoofer (also purple.) That's the only connection you need besides power. If you have those right, try using your cable for something else to make sure the cable is good. Is the indicator of the subwoofer green? Mine comes on with the reciever. Good luck!

Try hooking up a different signal input to your powered sub, another stereo or even a dvd players audio output to the sub will work for a test. Just make sure the subs gain is down before starting. If it still not producing sound, the subwoofers amplifier is bad. I hope this helps.

Fixed the problem...I just purchased another one online (from a store that has a good return problem) and will return the one that doesn't work! Cheers! :)

have you checked for the continuity of the wirings? check for the resistance of your speaker from it jack..... it should measure close to 8ohms or 4ohms using a digital multimeter (DMM). check also the sub out jack of your reciever if there is a signal from it using your main speakers if they come with jacks also (turn the volume low to prevent damage to other speakers you connect on it!

Sounds like the power supply in the subwoooooooofer box is dying.

Replace the whole thing . It's going to be the best way out.
