Sounds like a short somewhere inside of it. Check the resistance across the 2 post on the power cord with a multimeter. If this reads an extremely low resistance, then I recommend taking it to someone in electronics repair. Or getting a new monitor. You could also check to see if there are any blown capacitors. These look like little trash cans and if any are open at the top or look like they are leaking some type of liquid, they will need to be replaced.
