A device that adds wireless connectivity to a laptop or desktop computer. The adapter is typically an external module that plugs into a USB port. For desktop computers, the adapter may be on a PCI card, which requires opening the case and plugging the card into an empty slot.

My wireless wont work on my laptop

First of all let’s check if you have a wireless card in your laptop.
1 Right click my computer 2 click properties 3 Click hardware 4 Click device manager.
Look down the list and click the + on network adaptors you should see two adaptors 1 a Ralink RT2500 Wireless LAN card, or a 2000 or something like that to show it has a wireless card installed.
The second adaptor is a VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet adaptor this is for the cat5 cable that would be connected direct to your modem for going on the net direct.
If there is no mention of a wireless card you have not got one fitted, if one is mentioned but it has a yellow mark next to it the card is not working has it’s not got a driver installed.
Let’s deal with the easy one first, card installed yellow mark i.e. no driver.
Connect the laptop via a cat5 cable direct to your modem or get on the net somehow.
Type in Fujitsu it will bring up lots of options click Fujitsu Siemens scroll down to support Fijitsu and it will take you to welcome to support page click on drivers and downloads.
This will take you to a page that you put your serial number in then all the drivers will be listed and you can download the wireless LAN driver.
Once the driver is installed you should get onto the net via wireless.
If no card is installed you can get one for a few £s off EBay. (teastheword will have one)
To install it read the post I put up on changing the COMS battery, you have to remove down to the RAM cover i.e. power strip keyboard RAM cover.
You should see two wires one black one gray the gray clips to the main terminal of the card and the black to the Aux, the card slots into the mother board.
If the laptop has a card and the latest driver installed and still will not connect it’s the Arial behind the screen or the mother board which is a common fault. I could talk you through changing that but at this stage it’s really a shop job.
You can still go wireless by purchasing a USB stick wireless adaptor this will act as you wireless card (Net gear wg111v3 or equivalent. Just plug it in load the driver and connect.
You would then have to load the driver as above.
Hope this solves your problem or helps.

In control panel, is wirelesss network adaptor turned on?
If NO wireless networks are detected and you know you should see some. Remove the wireless device from the system (in device manager) and restart the computer
