Hi , I have the same problem with my fish finder.
It pass the test and it tell me the temperature of the water , but don't show me the bottom line and how deep is the water. The water was very cold this days the canal was covered by ice, I hope that is not a problem.
Bornheimerjm sed to replace the line .
What that means
Thanks

Sounds like either the sensor is broken or the line going to the monitor is cut or frayed. Its possible you might have to replace the line. Just in case though check to see if the line to the monitor is loose. That might be your problem right there.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My piranhamax 197c wont display fish in a pond? What could be some fixes?

this fish finder is for use in water up to 600 feet deep , a pond is most likely shallow , 1-6 feet , this im sure was not what the designers had in mind when making this

so as impractical as this sounds the fix is to deepen pond , id say it wouldn't work to less than ten feet deep

now humming bird does make one that is for shallow water (3-10 feet) (has a special transducer ) but that's not model 197c

I have a fishfinder Hummibird 565, I use it on a big fishing boat which is impossible to fix the sensor on the bottom of the boat, so I tried to hang it on the boat with a float, but it cannot work well,...

you can get a specialist to come and fix/reapply the sensor to the boat and possibly fix it if it is broken var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_4fdf0f4e4d1b403489dd188ff9311fa0(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } FCTB_Init_4fdf0f4e4d1b403489dd188ff9311fa0(document['FCTB_Init_3475a15565eb478ea69972d3c6d88377']); delete document['FCTB_Init_3475a15565eb478ea69972d3c6d88377'] var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_a70c5362962d40be976e65b2158646e3(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } FCTB_Init_a70c5362962d40be976e65b2158646e3(document['FCTB_Init_379c2b6472d1424f847e6d43703fa3ad']); delete document['FCTB_Init_379c2b6472d1424f847e6d43703fa3ad']

Screen shows bottom fine but doesnt show any fish i have changed every setting but nothing works

Fish on the bottom show as a blur, similar to weed, and pelagics show the same, but because of there position they are easy to recognise. Large singe fish like schnapper and sharks tend to show as an upside down V. You will have to use it often and you will eventually, by experience be able to tell whether you are looking at fish or weed.
