Question about NetGear WG511T 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Wg511 v2 'sees' the network but just won't connect just keeps scanning, updated to latest driver but still no go. Pulled out old WG111 v2 USB wireless card and it connects straight away. Pull the Wg111v2 out and reconnect the WG511v2 and the same issue. Could the WG511v2 'see' the network, but some how not connect? Everything has been checked three or so times, such as WEP Key and used as a Paste - which worked first time when given to the WG111v2! Stuck for ideas, although the WG111v2 is working it sticks out the back of the Dell Latitude - the WG511V2 card is easy to use. O/S XP Modem THOMSON TG585 v7 however same probs with the 3Com router modem as well.

This solution worked fine in XP, but unfortunately doesn't exist in Windows 2000. We're stuck wth with Netgear's broken driver helper.

Adaptor won't recognize wpa2 network

As per its user manual (p 2-1)
it only supports WPA, not WPA2

So either reduce the wireless network security to WPA/PSK, or get another adapter that supports WPA2

Or, If it's a version 2 in hardware, you could download the latest driver V2 that added the WPA2 support

Good luck

WG111 v2 cuts in and out of connection. says scanning for network address. has been working for three months. i have tried everything i know to fix it. thanks chris

Check the wireless access point you are using for problems. If someone bought the same brand near you then they may be using the same channel which would cause the problem you are describing. In that case change the WAP to use a different channel.

Good Luck!

Hi,
I want to tell you that to get a best performance for this adapter you can simply download the latest driver for the adapter and also make sure you dont have any interference device. Please try to change the channel on the router so that if you are getting any interference through any device it can be avoided regarding that.

I believe this will be help you to resolve your concern.

WG111 see network but won't stay connected

I would ensure that the product is operational by swapping it with the other WG111, then ensure that you have the card setup properly, make sure you have the lastest drivers from Netgear, I have fixed some problem with the WG111 in this fashion. If that fails then I would try upgrading to a 2.0 usb. i'll try to see if I can create this with and old machine I'll keep you posted
