My Zune Won´t turn on

I have a 30 GB Zune that crashed today while I was using it; all you need to do is press all the buttons on the front of the player for around ten seconds or so, and the logo will come onto the screen and the player will reboot. I believe the black screen means the Zune has crashed for some reason, but this method worked for me, so give it a try. (Mind you as well that I had it plugged into the computer at the time as well when I did this. But now it works just fine for me.)

im having the same exact problem with mine exept when i try to plug mine in the little white line fills up then it shuts down and it repeats like that . the worst thing is that its dead & when i tried to do all the solutions above the low battery signal appeared

my son's just did this and the reset method worked (press the back button and up and hold both for about 10 seconds until the zune screen appears)

Have you tried resetting it?

Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the keypad.

yea i live in peru and my zune stopped working all of a sudden and i dont know what to do. i think im gonna have to send it to a friend in the u.s. and have them send it to zune and etc.

None of these things worked until i did this, I locked my zun, pressed and held the buttons, and did <= and up, then i unlocked it, and pressed <= and up at same time and it worked i was like oh **** saved

I had mine for 3 month and then I kept it in my pocket all day, then I tried to turn it on but it wouldnt.It's been 6 months and my worrenty just ran out. HELP!!!!

i have the same problem with my zune, i was listening to music and my zune froze. now it won't turn back on. i tried resetting it and it didn't work.

I have one of the original (bigger) 30GB Zunes. I have had this for about nine months and it has always worked without a problem. This morning I plugged it into my car aux. speaker jack as I have done for the last six months and the screen was frozen for several seconds. It then went blank and nothing. I tried the back button while pushing the up, nothing. Then I tried the back button with the down button, nothing. When it froze it still had about 25% battery left, but I plugged it into the mains charger anyway, nothing. I then used the lock and unlock, nothing.

Then I left it in lock for about ten minutes. When I unlocked it, it came back on. All my music still stored and it is working perfectly again. My guess would be that this is a software glitch.

If you keep your Zune plugged into the computer or where ever you charge it, it will over charge and that will kill your battery. you can still plug it into the USB but you can not use it when it is off it happended to my zune

Plug your zune into a computer, then press all the buttons at once for ab 10 seconds or so. The main screen should come up..... I have problem with my zune freezing all the time, but i wouldnt trade it for an IPEEZY!

Real easy fix!!!

1) Press and hold the back (<=) button for five seconds.

2) Press and hold the up position of the wheel for five seconds.

3) Shake the Zune violently until you hear rattleing. That's just the frozen parts loosening up.

4) Scream, "Microsoft sucks!!!". Stomp your feet on the ground.

5) Go get an iPod and never kiss the man's hind-end again.

give the side a good wack against ur palm... and press play, repeat until it works... worked for me =]

ok so when my zune first wouldnt turn on i tried to fix it with checking the lock button pressing up and play,and i also thought that it could have had water in it so i put it in a bag of rice nothing worked it was two days later when it turned on so when it happend again i tried to figure out what the problem was when i realized that it was super hot and then i thought that it was over heated and i was right the zune was over heated because i kept it in my pocket all day i kinda felt like an idiot so just let it cool down and in a day or so try to charge it

Hey i have the perfect solution my zune froze and turned off and it wouldn't turn back on soo i put in the freezer over night then took it out and when i plugged it into the computer it turned on and now its back to normal you should try it

Try replacing the battery...it's possible that it's not charging up.

my zune is black screen and i cant see out of it at all it will turn on but i cant see anything can you help me!!!!

Early this morning we were alerted by our customers that there was a widespread issue affecting our 2006 model Zune 30GB devices (a large number of which are still actively being used). The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. The issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009. We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT). By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you’re a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device. 

Customers can continue to stay informed via the support page on zune.net (zune.net/support).

We know this has been a big inconvenience to our customers and we are sorry for that, and want to thank them for their patience.

Ok, This may sound weird but here it goes. I had accidentally dropped my zune on concrete and it actually cracked opened and i just snaped it shut. afterwards i couldnt turn it on, but when i plug it in the computer it turned on but i couldn't navigate the main menu. when i unplugged it i still couldnt turn it on. it took me a while to realize that it might have been the buttons that werent functioning right so i slamed it on my carpetted floor a couple of times figuring i had nothing to lose, lo and behold the buttons worked . yay i have my zune again!!

i NEED HELP!! I GOT MY ZUNE LIKE 3 DAYS AGO AND IT FROZE, SO I TURNED IT OFF AND NOW IT WONT TURN BCK ON!!! I TRIED EVERYHTING!!! I AM GONNA LITERALLY DIE!!!

I found that I had to start up the Zune software on my PC to get it to recharge the battery via the USB port. It worked after that.

i have a 4gb zune flash, it just wouldn't turn on one day, and i had a friend check out if it had a virus or anything, apparently it was totally dead... which is stupid, it showed full battery right before it crashed, but zune's battery display sucks eggs... and she just plugged it into her computer. apparently it likes her better than me, try plugging it into a different computer or a wall charger and leaving if for a few hours. so you could attempt that. seems like ever since i upgraded to 3.1( with the clock and games and whatnot) its been effed up. if at all possible you could also try going to a different version of the zune software, anything under a 3.1. this would mean no clock or games but is that really such a big deal?
as soon as i have the cash i'm buying an ipod, because the friggin thing just died again about 2 hours ago. &%**$#%

screen comes up when plugged in but does not move. it is locked, have tried to push all buttons at once. The time is showing 12:54 from a few days ago. Its about 3 yrs old but have jsut recently started using it 8GB black. Need help - black screen , lock, will not move up or down an dis charges HELP!!!

i have a 8gb black zune crach cople weeks ago :( i used it almost 24/7. well i was tryn to find a solution for it. found couple n mix'em up lol. 1st measure it has battery by plugn in ur zune, then press all @ same time for a few seconds (like 10) n then will turn on . u may need to updated (like in my case) hopefully this will work for a few cuz every problem may vary!!

It happened to me also. I put it away for several days to let the battery discharge completely. I then plugged it back into my computer and it started right up! It's still working great and it's been at least a month ago.

ommm guh. thank god. I thought I was hooped. my friends are always trumpeting the superiority of iPods as I buy mp3 after mp3 as they break... thank you, all, for helping me save face. I found that just hitting the buttons over and over again and shrieking in agony eventually gets her started again.

yo..i've tried everything here, and NOTHING works!!..i mean..i was just listening to music when it just froze, and it won't even turn on..the zune sux..i mean, why else would every1 be experiencing a "freezing" problem??..

The same thing happened to me. i plugged it into my computer for about 3-4 hours took it off, didnt do anything then i held down diffrent buttens fro about 10 seconds each and i would do 2 or 3 at a time still nothing worked so i plugged it back into the computer and it booted up right away!

Well I did what BEST SOLUTION said. You have to hold the center button, back, and play/pause button for ten seconds. The zune should reboot then and start and work perfectly fine.!

This has happened to mine twice.

Both time i was at the local mall.

I suspect the free Wi-Fi internet there for causing the freeze ups in my Zune.

I dont know if this will work for you but i held down every single button at the same time for about 10 seconds, then release.

The Zune logo appeared shortly after.

It may of been luck but good luck to you.

I had this problem when switching between albums and the fix is suprisingly easy. Hold the back (<=) button and up on the d-pad at the same time and it will reset your zune. If this doesn't work you probably have a more serious problem but this is a simple force-start.

why don't u buy a new hard drive for it
ebay - zune
then 30 gb hard drives are for sale
then just swap the existing hard drive with a new one
