The first post is too much guessing.
For a 18ftx52in pool it is roughly 7000gl of water which translates to about 175 pounds of salt -for you I would estimate about 8500gl.
None the less you need to buy a test bottle for saltwater 11 doolars for 10 strips.
Your water should be 3000ppm

Keep adding salt.(1 to 1/2 bag at a time - let mix in for an hour - re-test)

If you live in high rainfull areas - you will need to add about 1 to 2 bags of salt after every heavy rainfull.

Once a week I've been adding salt (80 lbs) to my pool and again get low salt code (91)....it has been very unusually hot (HTX 110) is this causing the problem and I need to add more?

1st... Check your salt level consentration.. If okay... 2nd, Check you electrolytic cell, may be plugged with white flaky calcium stuff. The white calcium build-up on the cells will cause a low salt alam.

I have done everything the manual says, but my saltwater system will not stop blinking error code 91. The salt level is fine, and the cell is clean. Do I need to replace the cell. My pool is now green and...

Bummer!!! Looks like you checked both things that would cause the code 91 error for "Low Salt". Here's what I've done to solve my low salt "91 code in the past.. I overshoot by 1/2 bag = 20lbs of the recommended salt add quantity when the code appears. Calculate by using this formula..
.0067 X Pool Gallons. I have a 14,000 gallon pool and when I get the 91 code for low salt, I add about 110 lbs of salt. Manual says 93 lbs...let it circulate for 24 hours by running the pump only and then start the chlorination cycle.. Before doing this, you MUST make sure the cell in clean.. If any calcium buildup inside, it can give you a false "Low Salt" alarm.

I hope this helps!!

If this helps, please rate... Thanks

I just need to know how to set the salt water system. i have an 18ft pool and have put 3 bags of salt in so far.

You don't say how deep it is. Since you say 18 foot pool, I presume it is round. AT 2 foot depth = 3817; 3 foot depth = 5726 gallons; 4 foot depth 7634; 5 foot depth is 9543. Your salt bag should tell you how much to put in referencing the gallons.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.com

I have forgotten how to set my salt water system to initially chlorinate the water after i added the salt. It keeps beeping and the code says no salt is detected.

Could be a couple of things. Have you put the right amount of salt in according to the tables (I find I always have to add a bit more then the tables say). Have you let the salt mix completly by stirring up any salt laying on the bottom of the pool and by running the pump for at least 24 hours before turning on the salt generator. Depending on how large the pool is you may need more than 24 hours before turning on the salt generator. If still doesnt work than you can try adding more salt a little bit at a time over a couple of days. Also check to see if the electrolytic plates need cleaning. Unscrew the large grey connector to the left of where the wire goes into the sensor and look inside the unit on the left)

Drain this pool, give it a good cleaning and start over. Clean the electrolytic cell. Your 24" x 52" size pool holds 12,481 gallons of water and requires 310 pounds of salt at initial startup. You should set the timer to run 11 hours per day. If the low salt light comes on add 85 pounds. You need an owner's manual. My intex saltwater system pump is beeping ''91'' meaning ''low salt level''. Do I need to just add salt again?

Yes, and be sure to keep up with your pH as it will want to rise slowly over time when using a salt water chlorine generator.

Keeps saying low salt level

I would say the rain is diluting the system at this point, or the system sensor has gone out. But if you had heavy rains I would be looking at that idea first.

thanks for using Fixya.
