You have to update the drivers on your computer. To do this you goto Start > Control Panel > System. In the system Icon depending on your version of windows look for device manager. In there you will have all the hardware lists. There should be a yellow sign next to the sound driver. Right click on that and update the driver.

Hi,
You should enable sound in BIOS, and then load the drivers for the sound chip. Drivers located on install cd or at Dell website.

1 - You should make a backup hard disk file.
2 - You must have the installation CD Operating System (1 CD or DVD Original) and controloradores (1 original CD or DVD or the downloads page of the DELL), those who brought when you bought it.
3 - You install the operating system (this erases all data from the hard drive), then install the drivers.

I think you need to install 'RealTek Driver' for your operating system. Download that from internet for your operating system.

Error loading operating system

You will need to perform a repair install using a Windows CD. The current configuration on the hard drive was basically with an entirely different computer and thus, it does not know how to "talk" to the new hardware. The repair install should fix that and create a new Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) that will enable Windows to "talk" to the new hardware.

I bought a pentium 4 3.0 ghz 800 mhz & my

The motherboard chipset of the Dell Dimension 2300 Desktop PC, will not support a processor with an 800MHz Front Side Bus frequency rate.

Only Intel Pentium 4's that use a Socket 478, 1.75 Volts, and a maximum of a 400MHz FSB.

The Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz processor has an 800MHz FSB, (As you have already stated), and uses 1.475 to 1.55 Volts.

The motherboard chipset for that Dell Dimension 2300, is an Intel 845GL.

This list on Wikipedia, shows you parameters the Intel 845GL chipset supports,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Not a good outcome, sorry. Just stating the facts.

Software purchase

Hello dazz_hammer,

You can put up to Windows XP. If do, I would suggest to add memory and bigger hard drive.

Or if the pc has Windows Product Key Tag, and what ever the operating system it indicates then you can re-install that operating system.

Hope this helps and good luck.
