Question about Canon FAXPHONE L170 Plain Paper Laser
Where is the fuser on a canon L170? Can I change it myself? Where can I find the instructions?
It'slocated on the rear of the unit and is a stinker to remove. All of the external covers must be removed and the frame must be separated to remove it. Lots of piecews and parts. Not for beginners.

The cost of the fusr labouer alone is ~$50-90 USD, plus your labour. You have 2 choices, either replace the entire unit with an all-in-one laser like a Canon MF4250, Brother DCP-7240, or other similar unit for about $140+, or if you're really tight for money, replace the fuser itself but it is a lot of work. This same fuser is also used on the Canon ImageCLASS MF3110, MF5530, MF5550, MF5730, MF5750, and MF5770 units. I was lucky my fuser was fine, but the sleeve was damaged and only cost $20 USD to order through eBay from Australia and then I replaced it myself. Besides, replacing the L170 with an all-in-one would be more beneficial and cheaper in the long run as well for most users.
