Question about Samsung SyncMaster 920NW Monitor

1 Answer

I have a samsung 920nw monitor bought it new. It has worked great for months, this morning I went to turn it on and it only came on for a second then turned off. I have restarted the PC and the monitor repeatedly with the screen only coming up for 1 second then going black w/ the indicator light staying on not blinking. I've connected it to my laptop with the same result and even unplugged it from the PC just to see the check signal cable screen and it still only stays on for 1 second. Please help

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault. It can be repaired, all you need to do is just to replace the picture board on the monitor, after replacing the picture board, you will see that the monitor will work fine, just as before.

Take care.

Hi I Got a Samsung SyncMaster 920NW the display

If you are saying that it powers off in a few seconds you most probably have a bad (internal) power supply.

Flashing power button on Samsung SyncMaster 920NW

Yes, More than likely the problem with the unit is blown capacitors on the power supply board, the flashing power light is a good indicator of this type of failure. Here is a link to a repair guide with pictures and videos showing how to open the unit and what to look for and replace to get it back going again.

Samsung SyncMaster 920nw suddenly went black now squeaks/flickers

The 920nw did have a 3 year warranty on the unit but they will be out of warranty now. The flickering power light is an indication of a failure in the power supply board. When the board fails it can't start up correctly and the power shuts down over and over so you get the blinking light and no display. This is a very common failure point on all LCD monitors after a few years of use. There are parts called capacitors on the power supply board and they filter the output power. When they fail the power is not properly regulated and the power supply shuts down and tried to restart so you get the flashing. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to dis-assemble the unit and then what to look for and replace to get it back up and running again.

Monitor goes blank after 3 seconds -Samsung SyncMaster 920NW

Could be a power issue. If it doesn't show anything at all then that may be the case. It may also be the display itself. It would be a costly repair so you might be better off finding a new monitor.
