Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player
Ok so I'm new here and most of you don't know me but here te thing. me and electronics have not been friends since i hit college. i don't know why but i've gone through two mp3 playes anf two laptops. anyway the problem is as such
I bought my ZEN Vision M: in july of this year. everything was going great. then it froze for the first time, no problem said I, looked it up and fixed it. then came the fateful day in late august early september when I somehow made it retarded. not really sure how i did it but now what happens is i'll plug it up and it will turn on and tease me. go through the motions of starting up naturally , and then go through the process of rebooting. i understnad this because thats what I told it to do before it went all goofy on me. it will get a quarter of a way through and i get the "firmware problem" message on my screen. the whole time this is going on, my computer refuses to recognize it.
then if i unplug it from the computer i can't turn it off, i have to wait for it to run itself completley and toatally down, recharge it and then not touch it again.
When it is trying to reboot you can hear the hard drive almost skipping and gridning making little whirring noises. but it ultamaltey stops this.
How can i fix this? ive downloaded everything that creative offers, but no luck. I'm this close to taking it in and spending a good 200 dollars on getting it fixed ( the screen is all fuzzy as well) but id rather not. anybody got any ideas?
You may have to reload the firmware via the rescue mode->reload firmware option. This will force the player to do a firmware update. If the update is successful, and the problem persists, the Hard drive may be damaged. That is probably fixable but you will have to send it in to the factory to have it done without voiding any warranty you may still have. If it is unsuccessful it may be a more serious problem, and you may end up sending it back anyway.
