Question about Amana ABB1927DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

My Amana has been making a loud buzz for a few months. We vacuumed the coils and that seemed to help a little. This morning nothing in the fridge seems cold. It's 10 yrs old. is this worth repairing?

Possible cause can be a small leak in the cooling circuit.Sometimes it happens especially in the welding points so you get no performance. It is better to change it with an efficient model as reparing the circuit is really a lot of work.

that sound is the relay/overload. it is trying to start the compressor. the problem is either that relay or the compressor itself

A loud intermitant buzzing coming from the back of the fridge

either the noise is coming form he ice maker fill valve( but if its of and still aking noise i doubt it. it also possible that the noise is coming from the compressor itself, overheating nad trying to restart in which case would give a slight "buzz" noise for 5secs or so then "click" off, and wait maybe 3 min to restart again. look for melted ice andperhaps your ice dream ont as hard as it should be???

Refrigerator buzzes & clicks

The only thing a capacitor does is 'kick' the compressor to start it. There is a box on the compressor containing the start relay. If it is defective or dirty, it might buzz. With the power off, find it, remove its cover and use some canned air to blow off any dirt inside. If that doesn't fix it, replace it. If there is a fan down there, be careful...and be sure it is working.

Mwave made loud buzzing noise then didn't heat up anymore

When there's a loud buzz like that, it does not heat, and does not blow the fuse, it is usually a defective magnetron. Did it sound something like someone making a "gurgling" sound into a coffee cup? I think this has a a one-year warranty, with n five-year warranty covering the magnetron. Amana bottom frezzer refrigerator

Gazzo, You are on the right track. I've been finding a lot of compressor failures on these Amana's. It's possible that the overload and relay for the compressor failed, but Im more inclined, from what I've seen, that the compressor is the problem. The compressor is covered under warranty, parts and labor for 5 years. I would call for warranty service...Catriver...post back.

ARB2214CB - Condensor is Noisy

It sounds as if the thermal limit on the compressor is cutting off power to the compressor when it gets too hot. There could be 3 reasons for this. One, the compressor is just bad...should be covered under the 5 year sealed sytem warranty (if its less than 5 years old of course) if this is the case. Two, the thermal overload and start relay assembly is bad. They are mounted directly to the compressor (big round black thing) and can be changed for about$14 in parts (unplug the unit before replacing!) Three, the fan that runs in the bottom near the compressor that cools the compressor and condenser is jammed or not rotating for some reason. It should run any time the the compressor is running. If it doesnt, it need replaced or the compressor will do exactly what you are describing. Hope this helps!
