I have a Dometic fridge model number RM2612 in a camper that i just purchased used and the fridge isn't cooling. The freezer section seems to be okay. The metal plate in the freezer gets cold but

Make sure it is level, has proper airflow out through top vent. Also check baffle, or stack where flame sits under and blow it out good with compressed air to make sure it's clean. If you smell a hint or strong smell of ammonia, shut it off, it has a leak in cooling unit. If all ok in that area, shut it off, disconnect and plug propane line, disconnect power and remove the fridge. Turn the fridge upside down for a day or 2, then re-install and let it sit 24 hrs before turning it back on. Quite often that will take care of any blockage in flow of cooling liquid, and get things back to normal if cooling unit is still good.

The top freezes great, however the bottom will never get below 50

If the top is running super cold and the bottom is luke warm it usually is a sign that your defrost drain is blocked and ice has formed all over your cooling coil path into the fridge section. Thus blocking airflow.

I would use up the food in the fridge now and then turn it off for a couple days to let it defrost manually. If you get a huge flow of water that overflows your fridges catch pan...you probably have that problem.

The answer is to locate and clear out the drain line of all guck using hot water and perhaps an improvised snake of some sort. You might need to remove the inner panel from your freezer to locate the cooling coil drain.

Let me know how it goes ok? Good luck!

Fridge will not cool, freezer works fine

I have a similar problem on one of two NDR 1062's in my houseboat at Lake Shasta. We just had the recalls done on the electrical problem under the unit (whatever it was ours was on the list but OK). Now at #5 setting I am getting 27 degrees in the freezer box, but only 50-55 degrees in the bottom refrigerator. I had a temperature sensor cord going inside under the door gasket. The marina mechanic said to get rid of that, and we got down to 46 degrees. I checked the gasket and since the units are 9+ years old, I replaced the suspect part. Now at #3 setting we are still mid-20's in the freezer and at 39 degrees in the bottom box. Although the gasket seemed in good shape and pliable, a real close examination found several spots where contact was not good and I could feel cold air escaping. Hope that helps.

It sounds like the thermocouple is either faulty or incorrectly installed. In other words the sensor bulb may be very slightly to far away from the flame to get sufficient temperature to keep the gas flowing. This is a safety device to cut off gas supply should the flame blow out. But if you are parked at a bit of an angle, the flame will also angle away from the sensor, causing it to shut off gas supply. With regards the freezer being temperamental, this is a strange one, because on this model of fridge/freezer, the actual cooling starts from the freezer coil and ends in the fridge. Try to check the thermocouple first. Also be sure there is nothing obstructing the flame.
