Question about Maxtor OneTouch USB (A01B120) 120 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

The blue lights do not go on when I power on the HDD. I can hear HDD humming but just can't get a light to indicate its working. As a result I also can't get my Vista laptop or XP laptop to recognise the USB when I connect it to the either computer. Any ideas what's wrong ? Is the case broken ? If so surely I can put the HDD in another case ?

Sounds like a broken power supply. If you want somebody to repair or replace it for you there is Hard drive repair. Also there is good information on hard drive repairs on hddguru.com.

Bluetooth wont charge or power on. when charging the red light comes on. once disconnected from charger it wont come on

Indicator Lights:
1.Headset Status Headset Indicator Light
2.Powering on Steady blue, then intermittent flashes
(changes to standby mode)
3.Powering off Red appears and goes off
4.Standby Blue intermittent flashes
5.Charging battery Red solid light. Light indicator turns off when
battery is fully charged and headset is off.
6.Low battery Triple red flashes
7.Pairing mode Blue/red alternating flashes
8.Missed call Purple flashes. Press the call control button
to cancel flashing light.
9.Incoming call Triple blue flashes when ringing.
Power on and off:
1.Turn on the headset Press and hold the call control button until the
indicator glows blue. You will hear ascending
tones.
2.Turn off the headset Press and hold the call control button until the
indicator glows red. You will hear descending
tones. When power is off, indicator stays off.
If none of this is helpful then it may be that your battery is dead, if that is the case then you will need to replace the whole headset. The battery's are not replaceable.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

The board power seems to be lost power/damage.
1. try using another adaptor/charger with the same power consumption eg.12v/1Amp . if still remains >>>
2.disambled the case >>> release the hard drive
3.buy a new case external with same capability up to 2TB ( 7200rpm )
4.Check your hard drive for corrupt by entering commad prompt . type: chkdsk /f

What does the blue blinking light at the very bottom, under the blue power button indicates?

According to the Dell 531 owners manual:

"Drive activity light-
blue light - A blinking blue light indicates the computer is reading data from or writing data to the SATA hard drive, CD, DVD or HDD."

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd531/en/OM/appendix.htm

Safe to ignore. It will blink even when the computer appears to be idle.

My simple tech 320GB external hard drive will not work the red light is on but the blue light is dead, nothing is happening.

Hello mbrin72,
If there is no activity when powering on your external drive, this usually indicates a failing drive. If you do not hear a hum or feel vibrations, this means the drive has gone bad.
Check the warranty of your product. The manufacturer may replace it at no cost. (other than shipping)
If recovering the data is of high importance, I recommend this service: http://www.datarecovery.net/hard-drive-recovery.html
I highly recommend getting a quote. Although, they do not charge if they can not recover your data.
Hope this helps!

My ps3 wont power up

try powering the system up by HOLDING the on;off button , it will reset all your audio and video settings . then plug the system using the AV cables (default) .

else, you should take it to an assastance centre for hardware issues checking . can be a problem with your RAM or GPU units that makes the system unable to startup it's firmware .

Drive Being Recognized as Removable Disk

Same issue with my 500 GB TFD500U16. A little more description is that my PC is detecting the power when turning on the drive and the HDD itself is spinning up. Also the Blue light that normally indicates HDD activity by turning Red no longer shows activity but just stays Blue. This indicates that the data side of the HDD is not seated properly. Since mine is out of Warranty, I took it apart and found this to be the exact case.
! ! ! ! Please perform this at your own risk ! ! ! ! Especially if your warranty is still in effect! ! ! By loosening the HDD mounting screws inside that will allow the connection to seat properly and data to be seen.
