Question about Gigabyte GA-8SG800 Motherboard

It's dead!! My Asus GA-8SG800 motherboard, that is.
Everything else seems to be o.k. ie. all the other items check out in other systems, so does anyone know of a similar board I can replace it with.
I don't seem to be able to find a new one anywhere and I'd like to get a cheaper one anyway so that I'm not outlaying too much money.
Regards,
Phil

    Hallo,
    Just to elucidate.
The p.c. would not boot at all. All that was on were the fans and the power led.
I disconnected and checked the power supply (ie. no load, just the power on wires shorted) and the 5v rail was pulsing, so I got another p.s.u. and the voltages were steady but still no boot.
I took out/disconnected RAM, all drives (HD, floppy),all extra cards, CD/DVD etc)and tried putting them back in (in various combinations)but still no sign of life ( bit like me in the mornings).
Incidentally, the various hardware bits worked o.k. when plugged into another working system.
Consequently, I came to the conclusion that it was the motherboard that was duff.
I do have another system but it would be nice to not waste the one that I've got if I could get a cheap, similar motherboard.
I'm using an older Intel Pentium 4 (can't remember the total spec) so I need a socket 478 board for it.
So really my question was "Does anyone know of a cheap available alternative to my duff ga-8sg800?".
    Regards,
    Phil

I have lost the sound in my PC. Can i download a new soundcard?

Well, you can't really download a sound card. :-)

But you can download the driver for the audio chip on your motherboard.

Go to this site:

GA-8SG800 Drivers

Download and install the Audio driver.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Asus P5RD1-VM won't start up

Hello,
Yes a dead cmos battery would cause this problem. I've had many problems like this and with the change of this battery, it just starts up instantly. It might ask to reenter the correct date and time.

Thanks,
Lolita
