Question about Compaq Evo N610C Notebook

2 Answers

I have a Compaq Evo N610c and the other day my sound stopped working. I have the volume controls and they are all on however the master volume keeps dropping to 0. I can lift it up to max with the mouse and the sound is there but as soon as I release it it drops back down. Windows xp sp2.

Thank you! I've just tried both and it's still not working. The master volume control still drops back to 0 as soon as I unclick the button on my mouse or stop using the wheel. Is it just the audio driver I need to reinstall?

I've had a Sony Ericcson Pc suite update, MediaGo and Quick time player. This has happened once before when I uninstalled Sony Ericcson PC suite but when I installed it aain the sound came back. I have unstalled and reinstalled my original Sony proramme again and checked the volume levels on the other programmes. They are showin max volume it's just that one master volume control. I've read it might be the mouse?

Try to uninstall the sony suite and ur Audio drivers.
Boot ur computer in safe mode and install the Audio drivers alone.

2 possibilities.
Hardware mute.
In order to mute, you press both of the volume buttons at the same time. To un-mute, press them both at the same time again
Or.
Reinstall drivers. You can get them here.

    Thats strange.
Yeah, first thing is to install the audio drivers.
If it keeps doing it after that it may be another program asserting control over the windows audio. Have you installed any programs recently that have anything to do with audio?

Compaq evo n610c no sound

Hi John,

Have you tried clicking on the Icon?

By doing so, you will bring up the volume control, then you adjust it by dragging the slider with your mouse to to desired level.

I hope this helps solve your query.

Cheers,
Peter

I cant get sound to work on compaq eve n610c

Check the drivers in the device manager to make sure you don't have an issue with the sound devices.

Check the Audio/Sound properties to make sure you have the volume turned up and not muted. Check both the audio/sound properties and also on your laptop make sure you have the volume turned up and not muted.

If you see the megaphone at the bottom right near the time right click on it and select properties.
