Question about Advent Netbook

Comp will not connect to internet and tells us there is a cable not connected. It is wireless and the modem is working with all other comps in house. I have checked the modem, switched it off and restarted, I have removed the battery and all power from the comp. When I try to connect it does not recognise the BT home hub and tells me a cable is not attached. I have checked the wireless switch is on. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

I received a advent milano net book as a xmas present,but it will not connect to the internet,their is another lap top in the house which is connected to the same router im trying to connect the net book to,it is saying that im connected but will not let me on,it is saying aquiring network address, please HELLLLLLPPPPPP.

Is your wireless modem set to broadcast it's SSID? your laptop won't find it if it is not.
Are the wireless settings for the laptop set to discover networks? can it find any others? are the drivers for the wireless device properly installed?
If it is asking for a cable then you are looking at the wrong network device on the computer, look for the wireless configuration program

Have you installewd the drivers for the modem ? if you have go to desktop and click settings got to network settings open this up it should show any connected networks if not click new connection then go throught the proceedure you can try the first internet connection if not try the advanced option for the wireless.. make sure you installed the wireless drivers as well a it wont work without these.. first reset the check with diff browsers....like IE,Mozilla,Chrome...if none is working try this---go to start open command prompt---type ipconfig--- press enter 3.get the ip address if it is starting something with 169.0.0.2 or anything that starts with 169... 4.check with your Internet service provider.... 5.else uninstall reinstall the network card drivers from the device manager....restart the computer... 6.check the hard connection unplug the cable and replug it... 7.shutdown the comp...then the modem for 20 sec...then start the modem and then the comp... 8.this should work...

Cant connect wirelessly to my router. have done all the steps like WEP setup, password and router name. just says failed when i try to connect wirelessly. and when i try to connect the router to my comp...


You will need to check the settings of the router. You said that if you connect the cable to the router and computer, it still doesn't work.
First make sure that the computer is able to go online when connected to the modem directly, without the router. If your computer is able to go online through the modem then your modem is working properly.
Now connect the modem and the computer to the router. check the IP address on the computer. open the set up page of the router. This is the page where you can change all the settings of the router. According to the type of Internet service change the settings of the router.

you can put your ps3 in a dmz zone. if still does not work its not your router. u can keep your ps3 in dmz and get your router to open ports. u can call your router company. If still does not work its not your router more than likely. It might be your modem. i have at&t and that was my issue. i went to dmz on modem and allowed it to pass through dmz zone and ip addresses to pass through. but make sure on your comp u have spyware or something. Your ps3 can not get virus.

Modem device missing now internet doesnt work


YOU HAVE TO RE CONFIGURE THE MODEM, meaning you have to open the comp. , take out the modem and put it back again , plug the comp. , turn it on , and the comp. wizard will reconfigure it for you , let me know , AJ

Linksys wireless-g broadband is not hook up to comp. the cord from cable modem the by pass is on to the comp.


If you want to use the linksys, you need to connect the cable from the modem to the linksys, then use another cable to connect the computer to the linksys. If it does not work, call linksys technical support, if they cannot help try this http://technicalsupport.blog.friendster.com

had same prob. 3 wired an 1 wireless . wireless would not conn. an others lose connection . after cable upgrade it was in router upgrade changed settings in router i had to call maker of comps an get them to reset ip adds took almost 3 hours to get them all working again they will do a remote access help by useing your ip threw your internet company hope this helps

G router wont work through vista or satellite dish

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

note:

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

Xoom x6 adsl modem problem


possible issue with freequent connection loss when going over 2 comp on a network are possible issues of collisions on the network meaning that sometimes more often then not, it is possible for two comp to end up recieving same ip address fr modem.

 

solution: first find out ip range supplied by the router in modem. then statically assign ip address to each comp

 

this is done by going into tcp/ip properties of either nic or wireless card and set to use following ex

NOTE: IP RANGE USUALLY LAST SET OF NUMBERS IN IP ADDRESSING TIPPICAL RANGE IS BETWEEN 10 TO 99

ip address: 192.168.2.12 (static ip address for computer)

subnetmask: 255.255.255.254 (generic subnetmask)

default gateway: 192.168.2.1 (ip address of router)
