Question about Sony KV-35V65 TV

1 Answer

When powering on receive no display, no sound

I get a constant blinking of the stand by/timer light; attemtped to shut off for 4 hours and retry, as suggested on another post for the same issue but have had no success. It appears that I will need to get a repair done. Can you estimate the cost that I should expect to pay for the required repair so that I wont be bamboozled?
Thank you, I greatly appreciate your time and assistance.

I have a Sony model KDF-e55a20. I just changed the buld but I still don't get any picture all I get is the power on light blinks 3 times. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Sir reset the lamp timer of your unit.
1 Press "Display" on the remote, followed by the 5 button, then the sound up key, and "power on". Do this while the tv is in stand by mode.
2 Then press "jump" 3 times to enter DE service menu. The tv screen will display the total lamp time hours.
3 Reset the the lamp time by pressing channel 3, then mute, then enter. This will return lamp timer back to 0. Hope this may help good day and best regards.

The stand by timer blinks continuously

Unpluggnig the set will reset some things, but not an error code. The 4 blinks usually means a lack of vertical deflection. If you can solder, you should be able to fix this yourself. Be warned however that there are dangerous high voltages inside the set even when unplugged.

That being said, try locating the vertical IC which will be a small flat IC attached to a heatsink that will be marked LA7837 or something similar. Try resoldering the pins on that IC first. If that failes to resolve the problem, replace the IC and post your results here. There may be other components that need to be replaced, but they will show up as other symptoms once the IC is replaced.

In these sets, it is common that the flyback transformer assembly, and sometimes the horizontal output transistor. With this there may be some failed capacitors in the horizontal section. When this type of failure occures it is possible that the power supply has some parts that also must be changed. The exact parts will be determined by the way the failure occured.

In some cases the CRT also goes shorted inside of the electron-gun. In this case the CRT must also be replaced.

In short order, you should take the set in for an estimate. It may be on the expensive side to service. If you are lucky, only the flyback may need replacement or some other simple part that is putting the set in to the protect mode.
