If you look on the bottom of the laptop near the cd-rom youll see a few screws holding it in place, when they have been removed it will just pull out, push your new 1 back in and put the screw back in

Which cd drive

If you post the Gateway Model Number it would be helpful. Do you have one or two drives? Is the drive in the Computer folder? If so, you can right click the Icon, select Properties, select Hardware tab, your DVD/CD Rom will be listed, copy the DVD/CD Rom part number, Google search the part number.

Difficulty to open cd rom o my pc how to solve?

Repairing your Optical Drive problem isn’t that difficult task.

Unfortunately you have failed to prove the Manufacturer Name and Model Number of your particular specific CD-ROM Optical Drive so I am unaware of what particular specific CD-ROM Optical Drive information to provide.

However if you use Google Search (http://www.google.com) and search the topic Repair CD-ROM you will be able to obtain information on how to disassemble and repair your specific CD-ROM Optical Drive. Examples of a Google Search are provided below ->

http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/cdfaq.htm

http://repair4laptop.org/notebook_op...cd_dvd_mo.html

http://www.repairfaq.org/REPAIR/F_cdfaq9.html

The most difficult part of the repair will be finding the correct size replacement 0-Ring that fits your particular specific CD-ROM Optical Drive. You could try checking with local Computer Repair Shops and see if the have a broken CD/DVD Optical Drive that has the correct size 0-Ring that might work in your particular specific CD-ROM Optical Drive.

On another note now days Optical Drives are inexpensive and you can obtain a replacement CD/DVD Optical Drive for less than 30 bucks.
Hope it helped you. Thanks.

I need to replace the dvd/rw in my GT5026E but cant find the original. What will replace it

Any 5 1/4 DVD / CD drive will work. You may have to order drive rails depending on the setup of Gateways tower. You should have 2 - 5.25" Drive Bays available. The original model number and name for the DVD drive is 5648 DVD Burner Combo Drive .

The tower does have internal SATA so you can replace it with any internal SATA DVD rom you like, it doesnt have to be Gateway, and it can even be blu-ray.

Hope this helps

Gateway M505 internal cd-rom slot does not take in a cd dvd

Not unless you know A LOT about electronics. It's best to just remove the drive and buy a replacement on ebay.

You can either search for M505 drive

or use the part numbers from the drive if you want an exact replacement.

Best of luck!
