How to restore defaults on GSM7224P?

How does one go about restoring the default configuration of a Netgear GSM7224P, without the password? - No password --> can't log on via serial console or web; - No "factory defaults" button, only "reset", which doesn't seem to change the config no matter how long I hold it down. - Ctrl-C to console during boot enters a command mode, but I can't find documentation on it.

Leave it to me to find the answer right after I post the question. As it turns out, you have press the 'Q' key at a certain point in the console boot output, to get to the boot menu. On earlier models, there was a clear "press 1 to boot, 2 for the boot menu" prompt. On these later models, you have to "just know" when to press which key. And if you don't, you may have the pleasure of searching online for a few hours until you stumble upon the right combination of keywords. :-/

In any case, here is the link, hopefully saving the rest of the Internet thousands of man-hours of fruitless searching:

SOURCE: GSM712 Netgear Switch password reset or recovery

As far as I know, you'll need Netgear's help to recover the passwords and they'll only help if you have a Premium support contract.

Try "1234" as this is the default if password protection is enabled.

Good luck!

How do I restore my router to the factory setting? I have no Wi-Fi service.

Restoring the Default Configuration and Password
  • Use the restore factory settings button on the rear panel of the router. Use this method for cases when the administration password or IP address is not known.
  • This is how to restore the factory default configuration settings that reset the router's user name to admin, the password to password, and the IP address to 192.168.1.1.
  • To use the restore settings button:
    1. Locate the restore factory settings button on the rear panel of the router.

    2. Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings button for about 5 seconds, until the Power light begins to blink.

    3. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power light to stop blinking and become solid green.

    4. The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web browser using the factory defaults.

Then you can go through the setup procedures to setup your wireless

How to reset netgear wgr614 to factory default

You can reset your Netgear router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings. For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset.

Need password to my netgear router n 300

    what is the model #?
Most netgear routers default to a username of "admin" and password is either " admin ", "password" or it is just blank. Those are the defaults unless someone changed it.
If you cant get in you can hold down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds (while it is plugged into power) and that will set it back to factory default settings then one of the above should work.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

Easy, reset the router itself, should have a tiny pin hole in the back that has a button that you must compress, just google reseting your model.

I am trying to configure a netgear wgt624 v3 router. I can't get passed the admin and password. Please help me configure this

Most of the NETGEAR devices, except ReadyNAS products and Fully Managed switches, have the following default username and password:
    • Username = admin
    • Password = password
      • For older devices, password = 1234
If you have changed the default password and have forgotten it, you will need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings in order to use the default username and password. I dont know the pass code...?

the simplest way is by restoring the default configuration and then reconfigure the passcode.

    You can erase the
current configuration and restore factory defaults in two ways:

    • Use the Erase function of the router (see “Erasing the Configuration” on page 6-7).
    • Use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router. Use this method for cases when
the administration password or IP address is not known.

To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password

or IP address, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router.
    1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the power light blinks on (about 10 seconds).
    2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.
If the wireless router fails to restart or the power light continues to blink or turns solid amber,
the unit may be defective. If the error persists, you might have a hardware problem and should
    contact technical support.

Need network security key or passphrase for my netgear DG834Gv4/DG834GBv4 !!! PLEASE( IP 192.168.0.1)

There is a login key for the router that can be accessed by opening the
address http://192.168.0.1 as described: after the login all settings inside the router can be changed.
Note: use a wired connection when going into the routers' ip address.

When you can not login with the default password, reset the device:

Restoring the Default Configuration and Password
This section explains how to restore the factory default configuration settings, changing the
router’s administration password to password and the IP address to 192.168.0.1. You can erase the
current configuration and restore factory defaults in two ways:
    • Use the Erase function of the Web Configuration Manager.
    • Press the WPS button and Wireless button on the side of the router simultaneously. You can
use this method for cases when the administration password or IP address is not known.

    1. Press and hold the WPS button and the Wireless button on the side of the router until the Test
LED turns on (about 10 seconds).

    WIRELESS SECURITY + PASSPHRASE
The wireless security is a network name for wireless connection called
SSID: the identification name of your router.
The passphrase is used for a secure password getting permission to have wireless data transfer from the router to the computer and vice versa. ( No internet connection so far: only Local Area Network [LAN] )

    MODEM
Because the device is a router / ADSL modem you'r able to setup the
modem part for connection on a telephone line to the internet / Wide Area Network [WAN] .
You should use passwords from the Internet Service Provider [ ISP ] enter and save them in the modem section of the device.
