SOURCE: GOLDSTAR AIR CONDITIONER WG 5004
the device is most likely low on refrigerant, you need to have it charged which means, more needs to be added. This could also be caused by inadequate air flow but most likely the refrigerant is low because of a leak and only a certified repairman can usually fill them and fix them. If you continue to run it the way it is, you will most likely damage the pump. Please let me know of any other questions you may have and I would be more than happy to answer them.
good luck on getting this fixed

On some remotes there is a reset button which is pressed by using the nib of a pen. Or if this does not work you should look under the cover for a manual button, most units have one, and see if the aircon responds. I suspect your remote sensor is faulty, but try the previous suggestions first.
SOURCE: air conditioner tries to start but kicks back out
Hi. are you saying that the unit tries to start up....do you mean the compressor only or that the unit does come on fan and all, runs for a short time and shuts off completely?? I just need to no what it is doing on start up before it kicks out, this would be very helpful in solving this for you. If it trips the breaker or not or does anything at all run for a second. Please let me know and I can have a solution for you. Thank You.

Hi, did the surge /protectors/breakers on the cord reset? If they tried to reset then cut off again, you have a short in a component. Check the breaker that supplies the units wall plug to see if it may be tripped. If it is, it will be in the mid position and turn it off hard, and right back on hard. Hopefully it will hold. Do this, if the breaker is tripped, reset it and if it trips again, go to the a/c and unplug it. Now, reset it and it will hold. If you have a part, motor, compressor, or what ever is shorted to ground, when you plug it in and turn it on it should trip the cord and maybe the breaker to. Check these things I have told you and see what happens. If the unit does start up and start to cool, it overloaded for some reason. A part getting ready to go out, drawing to many amps and tripping cord or breaker. You will need to try and service some of it if it is coming on. Go outside and take your garden hose and give the outdoor coil a good washing. It builds up dirt and will cause high head pressures in the unit which in turn will cause it to overload and shut off everything. Clean it well. Inside, make sure the filter is clean behind the cover on the front and the evaporator coil is also clean. Dirt is a killer of these units and should be serviced at least once a year before it gets hot out side. So, do these things, leave the cord unplugged when washing out side, and we can go from there. If it starts to work good after you clean and service it, that was your problem, but keep me posted on this. I need to no the out come. We can take other steps if needed. Please be kind when you rate me for my help, if you feel I was of help. I will be here to help you more if needed.
Sincerely,
