My picture display is narrow and does not cover the screen.

We use Direct TV and recently got a genie box put in living room. Our HD tv has been fine until recently. The picture stopped displaying across the 40 inch screen. There is 4 or 5 inches of black on each side. The Direct TV technician said to check with my TV Manual or manufacturer. Can't find my manual. TV is only 1 1/2 yrs old. It was working fine until they hooked up Genie and for a while it worked fine. I called them once before when it started and a technition talked me through and it was fine until a few days ago. Another technician today could not fix it. She said to call TV Manufacturing Co. Who should I talk with? Can you suggest something? Villa Jean Tiller

Does the Genie box have screen settings in in? Sometimes hd will show in smaller screens. Makes the picture nicer. If you adjust the screen size with your remote the high definition "niceness" will not be there.

Howdy,
It sounds like you have a Power Supply Board problem. The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Thanks for using FIXYA, big IRISH.

Tv screen goes black after 15-20 seconds

It's not the TV from what I can tell. I would start complaining about it and say you want a brand new box. Not used. They tend to give out boxes from people who previously had them and either didn't pay their bill or moved and clean them up.

The HD Colorstream 1input on your TV should work just fine.
This TV does not have an HDMI input but you can buy an adapter and connect to DVI/HDCP IN and that might be able to get 1080i video resolution on your TV.

RF module related to Direct TV.

yes you can but the 2nd tv wont be in HD. The modulator can be purchased for any electronics store. what it does is turns a composite video signal (yellow, red, white cables) into a coax (screw in cable). it has an composite input that you would connect from the receiver and a coax output that you would connect to the other bedroom tv.
