Question about Casio Exilim EX-S600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

When i turn the camera on, it immediately shuts down after showing the picture on the screen for about one second. The lense first comes out and then rapidly goes back to the case of the camera. What is the problem here?

My camera turns on for a brief second and then immediately turns off. The lense has no problems going in and out it's just the screen that won't stay on.

Check your settings to see if the display is turned off in shooting mode. Does the camera still take pictures without the display on (using the traditional view finder). This is a feature that saves battery life. Can usually be turned off/on in the settings menu.

Camera switches itself off unless the viewing screen is closed.the camera will still take shots using the viewing lense but will shut off immediately if the screen is opened.

This behavior comes when the camera is confused about whether the flip-screen is snapped into the camera screen out or screen in (for protection). The screen is supposed to turn off automatically when you snap it into the camera-back screen down. But if you flip and twist it in a certain way, the camera gets confused. I'll bet that if you keep your screen out, on the side of the camera, you can take pictures just as well as ever. To fix the problem, flip the screen out with the camera on, then rotate it all the different ways you can which allow you to close it with the face out. One of the orientations will leave the screen on, I believe. At least this procedure is the one I followed on my A610 to fix the same problem.

Please make sure no cable is attached to the camera. On many Nikon cameras, connecting a cable shuts down the screen.

Camera closes itself

I think it's rubbing against the ring around the lens. Too much pessure and the lens won't stay out. Or, the battery is low.

Turns on four beeps and it shuts down

I was all over this site and the only solution was to send it into repair for the "4 beeps and shut off" problem. I found another site that talked about lense errors, and one of their suggestions was to take the camera, lense up, smack it into your other hand (not too hard) (screen down toward your receiving hand) while the lense was out. You have to be fast, because when you power on, the lense comes out, and you have about 2 seconds to do it. My first light smack, and the camera came alive again! They also talked about lightly tweaking the lense while it was out in case it fell off track or skipped a tooth, but that wasn't my problem apparently!

Canon powershot A60. When the camera is turned on there is no image won't take shots, has a number on screen E18 and shuts down after a few seconds. Mike

E18 is an error code from self diagnostic system of the camera.if there is a malfunction in the lense assembly or the focus assembly then this error code appears. You have t show it at a repair shop.
