Try to use the USB port at the back of your CPU direct to the motherboard. do not use the front USB port, try to use also the another port if they are not functioning in other one

Hello Kitty 8Gb flash drive isn't recognized on PC

physical damage is the most common reason a flash drive isn\'t detected. The connection between the USB connector and the circuit board can become disconnected after even normal use. A telltale sign is a loose or bent connector, but sometimes the damage is undetectable with the naked eye. if you want to do this your self..If you accept the risk and choose to repair your flash drive yourself, the first step is to apply light pressure to either side of the flash drive while it is inserted. Make sure the sound on your computer is on so you will hear the "ding" if the connection is momentarily reestablished. If you do get an indication, you can try to hold your flash drive in the position that causes it to show up. While you hold it in place, ask someone to access the drive and save your files to your computer. This requires a steady hand and if you have a lot of data on your flash drive, you might have to hold it in the same position for a long time.

Bent flash drive

Unfortunately this drive is impossible to repair if bent (like from dropping while attached to laptop) and it cannot be recognized when plugged into your laptop. The silicon memory chip is sandwiched between the PCB material, if you take the case off of the outside you can observe that it is just a black square piece of silicon with no traces on the board only the metal pads to connect it intothe USB port. the "faceted" portion of the drive is only for grip and has no use other than a way to remove it from your laptop. The memory is very close into the connector, so when I dropped my laptop it bent it directly down the middle of the memory chip portion itself, undoubtedly severing thousands of microscopic connections in the chip. I believe this is a very poor design and will be buying the older "switch" style usb drives in the future.

I just purchased this flash drive, a green case, and when I plug it in my computer will not recognize it.

did you try to plug it in other computer..some of the computers needs some of the drivers so that if you try to plug a device on it..and recognize that you have the driver in your computer otherwise if the driver of your flash drive didn't recognize of your computer..try to search it to your computer if it has on your computer..if not try to search the driver and install it in your computer.

I bent the metal usb connector on my 4gb cruzer and the light flashes one time and system wont recognize device.

I had the same situation happen to me. My flash drive was in my computer on my coffee table and my dog tripped over the power wire for the laptop and it hit the floor bending the flash drive to about a 22 degree angle. I gently grasped the metal portion that inserts into the usb port and slowly bent it back to the original position and it worked fine. Two weeks later my dog ate the damn thing!! If you attempt to bend it back, make sure that you do not use pliers or any tool that may crush the metal portion or bend it out of shape. If you have an old computer or a usb port on a wire or hub, insert it, and bend it by hand. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Verbatim 1GB flash drive data recovery

Sounds like you broke something ;)

If your computer does not recognize anything when you plug it into the computer, your problem is most likely a broken contact inside the usb drive.

You should attempt to open the drive, and see if one of the four contacts on the inside of hte usb key are no longer making their way to the circuit board, and try to reconnect it.

IF you can push the connectors down with your fingers and make contact temporarily, and the computer recognizes it, try to just hold it there while you copy all your data off. Then throw away the flash drive.

Accidentally ejected flash drive and now it isn't recognized...

You will need to resolder ( or have someone ) the 4 pin usb connector on the drive, or submit it to a date recovery service. Both of which I do.
