Many times a bad brake light switch will prevent the cruise from engaging. But your best bet is to get a shop manual and follow the step by step tests. Check with your local library to see if they have online access to a repair manual
Hi, it sounds like you have a faulty pedal switch or the switch needs adjusting, on the brake and clutch pedal there are small switches that turn the cruse control off when the pedals are used, hope this helps
From what I have read the flashing cruse light is to get you to fix the problem. Any cel will throw the cruse light and cruse will not work. Get your abs checked out and cruse will work again when fixed.
If it has antilock brakes, the sensor is on the top of the rear differential. This sensor usually drives the speedometer. check the sensor for an open in its windings and also the wire that connects to it for any breaks.
if pulling up on the brake pedal worked, lets start there. I'm not sure on that specific car, but there should be a white switch on the brake pedal bar up under the dash that turns on the brake lights when you push the pedal. It would also turn of the cruise. those switches are adjustable. it should skrew in and out. if that is the problem, you've probably been driving around with the brake lights on all the time.
