It is hard to tell. You need at least an oscilloscope, and understanding of digital electronics. When chips go bad they usually quit oscillating. An easy way to find out it is oscillating is by using a multimeter, and checking the frequency of the output, and the input pins. This test will not tell other problem with the chip tho. It will only tell if the chip is completely bad.

If the RAM had got kaput then there would be continuous beeps coming from the MB speaker. Press all power plugs firmly, clean the RAM contact points with a pc of normal white paper, look inside the CPU. There should be a greenish LED lighted as long as the mains are connected & if its not, straight away change the SMPS(power supply inside the CPU), otherwise see that the power switch is connected. Also check the snugness of all cables including RAM slots. If the processor fan starts, but no display then check for any bent pins in the mouse & keyboard PS2 jacks(see to it that no key in the keboard is constanlty pressed/depressed). If still no display then use your older RAM only. If no success then change the SMPS.of the save 400-450 VA(watts).............sodeep

I have not get display due to mother board no access the RAM. and i have check the mother board without install RAM and i did not get any beep/sound plz tell me what is the problem and how i can solved...

This motherboard has an on-board video card and it uses shared RAM. The video uses part of the main RAM and if there is no RAM modules installed then you will not get any display or POST beep codes.

Intel 845 glly board please solve the problem

Hi Nadeem Nawaz,

No board will show display without memory. Your motherboard must run memory type;
Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts.
Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only.
Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB.
Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only.

Intel link showing memory specifications.

If your memory is within Intel's memory specifications & you are not getting display on your monitor. It is possible that the integerated on board graphics (Shown on page 13 in your user manual), may be defective.
You can add a PCI video card to the PC. The Intel D845GLLY will auto detect the PCI video card. No need to enter the bios & make changes.
Please keep this in mind. The integrated video card is PCI, if it has failed, there is a good chance it will not see the PCI add in video card. If you can find a used (Working) PCI video card to test in the PC.
