Put a corvette headlight motor together

I wrote a guide on the Corvette Forum for replacing the headlight gear, which involves taking the headlight motor apart and putting it back together:

Drum stopped spinning. I took apart and took out the broken belt. Not positive if thats the only problem. I found a one inch in diameter plastic piece that seems to be broken, also. Not sure how to put it...

The plastic piece maybe the pulley on the end of the motor. Check the motor for a drive pulley it will have grooves in it for the belt. Since you are in there check the idler pulley for ware, the drum support pulleys in the back for ware, and see if you have any glide pads for the front of the drum. When you put it together put the belt around the drum before you put it in. Before you secure the front of the drum put the idler pulley on the belt. As long as you do not end up with extra screws you got it back together right.

Fan does not come on

This will take some work, and some elbow grease, but what happened is the motor bushings most likely seized. Try turning the blades with your hand. If they are stiff, the bushings are seized. What you will have to do is take the fan apart. First by removing the blades, then by taking the motor off of the frame. Then depending on the type of bolts/ screws that hold the motor together, remove them. Then split the motor apart by taking a flat blade screwdriver and sliping it between the two pieces of the motor and turning it so they slip apart. then once the motor is apart, shine up and clean the motor's shaft so it is clcan and shiny. then do the same for the bushing/ beringholes in the motor's casing. then drip some oil in the berings, and on the motor shaft, and put the motor back together. then put it back on the frame, and plug the fan in. turn it on. the shaft should just spin without any help. if this does spin, put the blades back on, and put the guard back on. Then you sucessfully rebuilt the motor and the fan!

3.0L tranny wont properly mount to motor

Did you make sure the torq converter was all the way into the trans. pump? sounds to me it was not, and i hope for your sake you did not break the ears on the pump. Unbolt the trans. unbolt the torqconverter from the flexplate and spin the converter untill it drops back in the pump keep spinning until it drops in a good inch and then you got it.

Savvy vacuum belt

It is easier when you also take the top off. Then you can put the belt over the roller and re-install it, then put the bottom plate back on, then turn it over, undo the motor and put the belt on the motor pulley, re-install the motor and put the rest back together. To remove the top, thewre are a couple of scres from the bottom, then from the top, remove the Hoover emblem, there is a screw there to remove and the top will come off.
