Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
I have checked the lamp cover over and over
Replaced lamp and still had blinking light. The new lamp was not pushing the safety switch far enough to activate. Broke tab from old lamp and Super glued it to the new lamp next to the safety switch tab, but vertically to so the tab was approximately 1/4-inch longer then the original tab. This pushed the safety switch far enough to activate. Worked like a charm.

OK I fixed mine. I took out the new bulb, and on the back side, there is a little tab on the right side of the lamp that should depress the safety switch. I think that once you take out the original bulb, the switch lever is weak and once you replace the lamp, the new one cannot depress the switch far enough. I built up under the tab (with some plastic from a pen pocket clip and some super glue)(after I took off the back of the tv to see what was going on) and it depressed the switch farther. I put it back together, and now it works. Saved a few hundred bucks. Good luck...
