Question about Palm IIIx Handheld

Retreiving information off barely-functioning IIIx

Hi there - would love any insight into the following problem.
I've got a IIIx with a screen that barely works. The device can still charge, but sometimes the power button doesn't work either. (Great, I know)
When it was operational, it would automatically sync to my Mac when I docked it. But now, the 3-prong Mac connector (name escapes me) is outdated in favor of USB and Firewire.
I'd very much like to find a way to retreive the data stored on the machine, even though I've tried and failed before. Is there something I haven't tried, or someone who knows better?
Many thanks,

Sorry to hear about your trusty little workhorse dying, but all is not lost, meaning your data. You'll just need to get a replacement sync cable that can somehow replace the old RS232 connection. You should be able to use the same cable that connects to the m100 without spending the extra money to buy the old Palm MacPac. Once you've got your data retrieved your new device (I assume you're addicted like the rest of us) should offer you more options. Otherwise you may want to consider getting a USB or Firewire expansion card.

Where can I get a manual for Palm IIIx PDA?

Here it is, Click HERE.Once the link is clicked, you'll be asked to "Save" or "Open" (Internet Explorer), click "Save" to download, but if you are not asked with those options, it should open up in your browser (firefox, google chrome, opera), wait until the page is fully loaded, click the floppy disk like icon on the top-left corner of the page to save/download it.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Palm IIIx power problem

You did it right, but are you sure the new batteries are fresh, and they are inserted correctly?

Double check. It is really easy to put the batteries in wrong if you haven't used the device in a while. And batteries can be bad, even if newly purchased.

If the Palm was working the last time you used it, being inactive wouldn't kill it. If the batteries that were in it all this time leaked, The leaking chemicals could damage the unit. But that would be pretty obvious when you took the old batteries out.

Once the batteries run down to zero, you would lose any data that was stored in in the. You would have to re-load it from a backup. Even so, it would boot up and take you to the setup screens when you turn it on with working batteries.

Make sure the batteries are OK. Sometimes, even brand new ones are defective.

HTC S710 - Battery issue

Hi guys

if u buy new battery for around 35$... its creepy thing that it again sucks within
6 month
so follow these procedure that i really got good response

1)Buy the new battery from any other dealers (u can use Nokia (std) or LG, Micromax, Onida... etc)
having same specifications as 1050mAh Lion-POLYMER 3.7v and having equivalent Size that fit into the case.

2)Now open ur dead battery, remove the sticker slowly, u wil get the polythene bag carrying the charge sheets
3)Please note that dont not disturb this polythene bag... (cutting, drilling or pinning), else it starts burning.

4)U will see a circuit above the polyhthene bag having two poles (+ve n -ve) just cut the poles of bag from the circuit and keep the bag aside

5)Now do the same procedure with new batt and remove the polythene bag.. and soilder with
the dead battery circuit. (check the +ve n -ve by multimeter)

5)Re-assemble with insulation tape and recondition it perfectly.
now check poles bofore starting.

Note : i got good result from this and i m getting 18-19hrs standby and 11-15hrs usage. Do it on ur own risk...and i m not responsable for ny harm)

Palm IIIx Screens Die

It is possible that screen connector got loose. My initial intermitent problem was that PDA wouldn't turn on properly, the screen would flicker and/or show grey area. On my palm IIIx I did remove the back cover and pushed the connector all the way in the slot and now it works just fine.

Touch screen

Haha I love the Centro. You need to perform a system reset to the phone the directions are in your manual. Basically, the touch screen is screwed and by reseting it and following the prompts that should resolve your issue. You don't lose any information either so you have nothing to lose.
