I have a Aspire 5570, and the screen just all of a sudden went dark. I can still see whats happening, but there is no light. What component do i need to replace, and can I do it myself? I am currently in Japan so it's very difficult to find any help!

It may be either the backlight lamp or the inverter. You swap out one, if that doesn't do it, you swap out the other. The lamp is cheaper (they run from $5-$15) and the inverter is more expensive (in the $60 range) but the inverter fails more often that the lamp. The job itself isn't hard at all, once you get the LCD cover off. If you need help with instructions, I can be available for that.
