This is my father fridge he says that the water worked the other day, but he took the ice bin out to clean it and when he put it back in it didnt work. So I tried messing with it I took the filter on the bottom (in the toe kick) out and emptied it and put it back in and it still did not work. And he put a new bulb in right in front of me and still didnt work thats why i think it could be in the front panel or a power issue, Yes or no? And when you say the off switch which do you mean?

Are you talking about the arm for turning the ice maker on and off or something else. So It pretty much sounds likes the filter. I will try the filter tomorrow thank you I will let you know how it turns out

The first thing to check would be the on off bar behind the ice box and make sure the arm is in the "on" position or the power switch in the icemaker itself is "on" Next, check the filter cartridge. They should be replaced annually. Before you replace it, remove it from the refrigerator, empty the water into the sink then rinse it out with a sprayer. Re-install the cartridge and check for water. It may run slow, but you will know for sure it's the cartridge. They are around 50-75 ea. As far as the light is concerned, it may just be the bulb. Hope this helps

There is either an "arm" which is steel, or an "on/off" switch in the front of the icemaker. There will be writing on the plastic that you can see with the tray out as to which position is on or off. There really isn't any wiring that could be "loose" or shorted by replacing a bulb.

Yes, the arm for the icemaker turns the unit on & off. Good luck!

THe ice /water dispensor is throwing out ice and water independent of contact from a glass hitting the dispense level, to have it dispence. As a result we have turned of the water and ice control but now...

This is a general answer. The water dispenser paddle makes a switch that then opens a water solenoid valve that dispenses the water. The ice paddle makes a switch that starts an auger in the ice bin to push the ice out. There is either a rod across the bin to detect the height of the ice in the bin or a thermostat that hangs a little way down in the bin. These will open a water valve to fill the evaporator to make more ice if they think the bin is low. Mineral buildup in the water valves is fairly common and can keep them from completely closing. I don't know which light your referring to, but the low ice light should go off when the bin hills. Also, small inline water filters are available in most hardware store to filter water for refrigerator use. I hope this helps.

Last night, I connected an active water line to the back of my Kenmore side by side. The ice maker is making ice but water water and ice is not coming out of the dispencer. There is another water jug...

You have a dual water inlet valve where your water supply connects. One goes to the ice maker and the other goes to the water dispenser by way of the water reservoir you mentioned in the fridge.

Open the door and hold the door switch down and try the ice dispenser. Do you hear any thing. You should hear the ice door open and the augur motor turning to turn the augur which pushes the ice out the door. If the augur doesn't turn Take all the ice out of the bin and try. perhaps the motor is too weak or the augur is locked up. Take the bin out and try to see if the motor will turn with no load. The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter when you try the dispenser. If you are, probably bad motor. If not ,dispenser switch or solenoid is not working.

Have my ice maker set to cubes, only dispenses crushed, and now "nothing"

remove the ice bin then hold it over the sink and lift the small arm located on the back of the dispenser if it opens and cubes fall out this is good.

the next thing to look at open the door and look at the auger motor case and you will see a small hole in the back with a square plastic actuator make sure this is down.then hold the door switch and have some one try and dispence ice the piece of square plastic should move up if it does not the it needs to be replaced.
if it moves up just make sure the metal arm on the back of the dispencer bin is properly inserted in the plastic actuator.

Ice & Water Dispenser Suddenly Dysfunctional; LED lights, too!

Cory, you sound like you have a bad water valve as well as a bad control board for your dispensor. If you've had any storms in your area in the past 4 - 6 weeks, it's very possible that the storm took both parts out.

We have parts for GE as well as mots other major brands, so please give us a call with your complete model number and we will get your parts out to you right away!

We hope this solves your problem and we look forward to being able to assist you with future issues.

Have a great evening.

Matag fridge msd2351hew icemaker ice and water work and cubes come of crushed ice dispencer. There is a capacitor connected to auger motor. Is this the problem? There are no other electrical parts.

If you remove the bin and look on the bottom of it you will see a rod running from front to back, this opens and closes the crusher see if it moves freely, if not dump the ice and rinse the bin out with hot water till it moves freely,if so,with the door open set the dispenser to cubes leave the bin out push the light switch in and hit the  dispenser button you should hear a loud pop and see the actuator by the auger motor move up,and drop down when you release it.

Why doesn't my ice maker work?

You do not list model number, so this will be very generic. If you have cubes in the ice bin, and when you try to dispense them the duct door opens and the auger motor runs, check the auger in the ice bin itself. Check where the spiral auger meets the plastic part on front of the auger. Drive part likely seperated.

Sid by side ice dsspencer and water dispencer(all the indicator light suddently are shut off) not working

you could have a problem with your dispenser module. a burnt pcb that could lead to all of your problems. switches not working, lights not working, dispenser not working, etc.

check your dispenser module and if you find a burnt part or a burnt PCB, then replace it.

tnx 4 using fixya,
