SOURCE: Hard Disk Corrupted

You can wipe the drive with your PC, but unless you use DOS you can not do anything else with it. The PS3 runs the FAT 32 system and can screw up your NTFS system on your PC if you try and run it with Windows or what not. I learned this from experience!!!! They have the external USB cases with protective sleeve and USB cable for $5 on eBay....brand new!!! Unfortunately the PS3 does not recognize the hard drive when connected using this device. Why, I don't know. It should as Jenkins said, it's like a big thumb drive. Good luck!!

well, i guess the only way so solve this is formatting it, because the firmware can't be accessed while corrupted data is on, and it makes impossible any procedure to try fix it by the system .

Playstation 3 hard disk files corrupted???

hey ash,

ps3 Hard drive needs to be manually reformatted and checked for bad sectors.

as what youve said, you already formatted it and yet it still says there is a corrupt system file.

when i say "manually formatted" you have to clearly take the hard drive out and format it using another pc or ps3.

Do i need a new hard drive if my old one say (corrupted profile all the time) ?? plz help !!

No, just remove the hard drive and connect it to any computer to reformat the hard disk drive. It will be okay after reformating. But back up your files, all the files will be delete when reformating the disk

Hard disk is corrupt

Get your manual and then take the HDD out and reformat it on your computer using FAT32. If that will not resolve the problem then buy a new HDD.

The following message is displayed: "System hard disk file system is corrupted." What does this mean.

It means that your hard disk drive needs to be reformatted. You get this error when the system shut off while data is being saved on the hard disk drive.

I cant reformat my hard drive. (Windows XP)

Hi. There are several causes for this type of error. Either your Windows CD is corrupted, hardware is faulty (Motherboard, RAM, hard disk, video card, etc.). You may want to try to reformat your hard drive using another computer first just to isolate if your hard drive is faulty. If you can format it using another computer, try installing windows on that computer.

Saying hard disk corrupt then restores but game freezes

Is this a game on your hard drive or a CD? If it is on your hard drive then it quite possibly had a bad download OR your hard drive is on its last leg.

Computer freezes when checking disk

If your computer froze either on safe mode or normal mode to log in to windows it means the your OS (operating system) is corrupted. You might need to reformat your machine to it's defaulty factory settings. Note that all your files will be deleated if you will reformat it. Before reformatting I advice that you back up first all your files from another machine. To do this, take out your hard disk and connect it to another computer (it will detext as usb or external hard disk). After saving all the files, put the hard disk back to your machine and reformat it then.

Corrupted hard disk's

It sounds like the system can't reformat the drive on it's own. This means that most likely the program that the system uses to reformat is what is corrupted in the hard drive. If that's the case, unfortunately you'll need to get in contact with either sony or a licensed repair center. It's possible that Sony or the repair center can send you a disc with the repair program on it.

Hope this helps.
