Question about Technics SL-PD688 5-Disc CD Changer
There might be million of reasons for the same and i hope you would agree. If this would have been an intermittent, i would have judged Lense to be BAD.However, more likely it is not.
As this is an immediate reaction from the changer, as i am not there, still i can make an intelligent guess, it has to be a Hardware Failure. Now, this might be blown of IC's, it might be driver motor is burned ( which is the most likely cause ) i have seen on these players.
The best solution - If you believe, you are handy at electronics. Take a Voltmeter. Open the player ( It should not be under warranty, i hope unless you would have it returned ).Check all the circuits starting from small IC's to big Capacitors. You can also judge those by naked eye as it might be leaking, bulging etc. The Voltmeter would read their reading as ZERO. Than note down the part number. Purchase the part from local dealer or online. Replace ( It might require soldering and unsoldering ).and it would be done.
If that's a motor, check .Again, purchase the same part number. Replace and it's all done.

Exactly same situation arises when the optical lens of your CD player start loosing its contact with electrical circuit. So for solving either you need to replace lens with new one or just repair the electrical circuit.
