Question about Nintendo DS Console

Top screen broken...

Hi there! My Nintendo DS had a sort of accident (pet knocked it off a table, apparently) and now the top screen is pretty much busted. There are a bunch of scratches on it - they look like they're on the inside of the screen, and the LCD (that what you call it?) is ruined - the screen is blank/white, with black blotches everywhere that you can still see even when the power's off.

How can I fix it? Do you think it might be a good idea to just get a new DS Lite instead? I have the money for either option, but I don't know anywhere nearby I can just go find some kinda replacement screen, and I won't be allowed to order anything online...

Re: Top screen broken...

If you drop your ds and one of the screens wont work. chances are that there is nothing you can do but send it to nintendo for a repair.u cant take the system apart because there is a special screw driver needed to open it up.

My Nintendo DS top screen is completely blank

you need a new case and top LCD as the cable running through the hinge is fragile and has obviously been broken. Ebay should provide you with spares required and youtube for video's on how to do the job

My original nintendo DS has little white lines in the top screen!

Well, if the lines stay on the screen even when the DS is turned off, it means the LCD screen is broken, thus the crystals are flowing and blotching. This means the screen must be repaired, however you don't have to buy a new one.

Nintendo has a page about original DS repairs Here. They also offer certain warranties, I'd see if one applies to your situation. (They also have a more broad repair page Here.)

If you feel like doing the repair yourself, it is apparently very easy and costs about $40 to replace the screen. There are many different repair tutorials online. (I just did a Google search for "DS top screen repairs") Here is one of those sites.

I hope this was of assistance.

Nintendo ds to screen broken

Hi, replacing the original nds upper screen is a fairly straight forward procedure, you need to remove the 4 x small plastic plugs located in the corners of upper screen, then remove the 4 x phillips screws, the top outer back part of the case will seperate and you can gain access to the screen. Firstly remove the small screw holding down the right hand pcboard to gain access to the ribbon connectors, release the larger flat connector by hinging the clip up, slide the ribbon out, underneath you will see a tiny connector, gently ease the small clip back towards the ribbon, prising a little each side at a time, remove the ribbon and then you can prise the screen from the case.
These guys sell the replacement screens prices are very competitive and offer next day delivery!
