Question about Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera

Copying Video ---- TO ---- my Canon A540

Hi,

I have a Canon A540.

I recently downloaded my videos to my Laptop (Windows XP Pro SPii).

I then stupidly deleted the vids from my camera and now want to get them back onto my camera SD card.

I can upload PICTURE images back to my A540, using the software that came with the A540 without problem, but the camera window software that allows this, only has a choice of Jpeg, and does not let me select the movies that I previously downloaded to my laptop.

Can anyone tell me how to get my videoss back onto my Camera?

I have been searching the web for ages and cant find anyone else with same problem.

I also tried just opening the camera with XP browser, but whilst this lets me copy FROM camera TO laptop, it wont let me do the reverse, so I cant copy the vids this way.

If I used a card reader (my laptop does not have one), would I be able to copy the vids back to the memory SD card, and would the A540 recognise them if I did this?

Thanks in advance for any help

Wow, that was quick. Thanks very much. I will go and get a card reader and give it a try. I didn't have any folders on my cam all pic are in the same base folder. So hopefully I will be ok then.

I dont suppose ypou know why the canon software wont let me copy the vids back do you? It seems strange that it only recognises video when downloading from the cam and not the other way round.

    Anyway thanks.

Yes, if you use a card reader, and do not change the file name, AND place the videos back in the same folder it should work.

"no audio device" is detected in windows XP spII,

You need to install the audio driver. Go to the Acer WEB site to download the drivers you need, make sure it is Windows XP version for your particular MODEL laptop. Use this link :- http://global.acer.com/support/download.htm By the way, the latest Service Pack for XP is SP3 you should download this and install it, try to borrow SP3 on a CD because it is approx. 350Mb in size.

Canon powershot a540- using video mode and I do not want sound recording

There is no way to disable the audio on the camera unless you cover the microphone which I wouldn't really suggest. You would have to remove the sound later once you upload the video to your computer and put it into Windows Movie Maker or some other editing software.

Software for Mac application lost

Your Mac video program should have or be able to download the appropriate driver for your camcorder when you want to capture the video from it. I have been using Final Cut Pro with no problems with the Canon Optura XI.
