It works like a squirt gun, submerge complete unit into water to add water. After it fills pull out and ready to use.

My Conair SC 10 steam cleaner will not produce steam. The green ready light comes on, but all it does is make noise when you hold the steam button

It's took a while to isolate the exact issue. Looks like water deposits clogged a piston inside the white attachment before the pump/motor. Be sure to clamp other side of the shaft as it will spin if you attempt to remove this. I opened it up, removed the spring loaded piston, cleaned it all thoroughly, and a dab of oil on the piston itself. It works!!
I could not find any info on the SC10 by Conair anywhere, not even their own site. I hope this helps.
BE VERY CAREFUL AS THE METAL CASTING GETS VERY HOT.

SteamVac Carpet/Upholstery Deep Cleaner Vacuum: how do i add the solution to the steam vac? how mu...

You didn't give a model number so I'll tell you both methods. The F5xxx and F6xxx models have a cap at the top of the clean water tank that doubles as a measuring cup. The cap is about 3 inches in diameter. Fill the cap to the fill line with shampoo and dump it in the tank. Then fill the tank with hot (Not Boiling) water.
The F7xxx series has a 2 section tank. The large section is for hot (Not Boiling) water. The smaller section is for shampoo. Fill the smaller section with shampoo and the Steam Vac will mix the water and shampoo for you in the proper proportion.

Can't get it open

had same problem. Tried pouring boiling water over cap and it seemed to loosen some so I boiled more water and put the steamer top down in a bowl in the kitchen sink and pour the boiling water in and let it sit about 5 minutes. It came loose with some effort. The grooves are the opening are metal and they had started to corrode.Once open coat with wd40.
