Question about Solis Crema SL-70 Espresso Machine

Espresso shot is c old

Green light comes on indicating that coffee can be made but the espresso comes out cold. Seems there is sufficient pressure but something is wrong with the heating element or thermostat?

I am posting this for a friend so I cannot get the answers quickly. Thanks for your fast response. What I do know is the water coming out of the coffee basket is cool to the touch when attempting to make a shot of espresso. My friend does not have a thermostat to check temps. She thinks the steamer (hot water wand) works but she will verify that tomorrow morning.

OK, attempted to further assess the problem this AM. Steamer did work, fine actually. (Yes, it was hot.) Coffee still cold ... what does that mean when the coffee portion is cold but the steamer wand works?

    Thanks for the help.

Is the water from the head or the hot water wand hot and if yes what is the temp?

If the water from the wand is coo also then the machine's thermostat at the top of the boiler needs to be replaced or reset depending on the model.

I have the same problem. Machine is brand new, and no faulty or cracked parts. Seems it is a pressure issue, but I don't see a way to reduce the pump power in the manual. Please let me know if this was ever solved.

La pavoni stops boiling water

Run some WHITE vinegar through it, followed by plain water a few times. The heating system gets a buildup in it and requires cleaning from time to time.

My Rancilio Silvia, about three years old, does not seem to be generating sufficient pressure. Standard espresso grind requires about two minutes for a shot and coffee is bitter. Is there any way to...

First things first, remove the screw and shower in the head and clean. Then change grind to something a little coarser, since we are testing the machine we will not tamp the coffee(we are doing this to have a constant in our coffee brewing equation). Note how long it took to brew, if it brewed longer than 40 secs, then adjust grind and try again. If coffee shots looks better and taste better then we are on the right track, we are looking for any thing between 15 and 30 sec depending on the coffee blend from light to dark. If you are getting the same results over 40 secs for a shot no matter what grind you use then the pump needs to be replaced.

HI I would suspect the thermostat on top of the boiler. it is 2 red wires with a little thermal couple on the end. Could be broken or bad. Goes to the board.

Cold shots

Remove the portafilter and press the brew button is the water that is coming out of the head warm or completely cold? If cold then one of the thermostats on the boiler is damaged.
